Pick-up trucks are everywhere these days so an essential feature on slot-car tracks. I already have several of the classic Scalextric Nissan versions so looked for a 1:32 model of a more modern truck. The only decent one I could find isof the popular Toyota Hilux and these are available from several Ebay sellers in the Peoples Republic of China. Most feature a common payload found on these trucks but I found one that didn't have such. Perhaps predictably, the pick-up arrived with the unwanted payload as an option. Lets avoid discussion about the frequent News coverage featuring these pick-ups.
Within minutes of mine arriving, I started fitting a tow-bar. Although a static model its purpose is race/rally support so needs to be able to have a trailer hitched.
Its a great model with super detailing and size. A very appropriate addition to any slot-car track. I would like to find a Mitsubishi Warrior but no luck yet.

That trailer looks good Leo. Funnily enough I've been looking at George Turner's trailers and wondering about fitting one to the back of an 80s Scalextric Datsun pick up, and that trailer looks similar so might be an easier option. Can you show us the tow bar you added? would it fit to a Scalextric car/pick up too?

Not sure if I posted this in the other thread on the other place but here's a photo I took at an Earls Court Motorshow many years ago (late 80s?) which I would think is a next generation version of your photo above.
@Richard,
The Hilux and the Datsun pickups are very similar sizes with the Toyota slightly wider. For the Hilux, I constructed the towbar from plastic rod as below. I used cyanoacrylate glue to construct it and it turned out quite strong so would probably tow on track.
A while ago I wanted to be able to tow behind a Scalextric Datsun pickup so made a tow-hook from 1.5mm copper wire (twin and earth) and attached it using a screw and some sort of glue. Has not had a lot of use but works great.

FIAT 131 Station Wagon "service barge".
This is from a resin kit by Toni Ruvira in Spain, with the roof-rack scratch-built. These were used by the team (Abarth) in the FIAT 131 and Lancia Stratos era.

Yo Steve, Yes the female engineer used to be a Britains potato picker. Chatting up the co-pilot is a Britains petrol pump attendant, now a tyre specilaist. Scuderia Turini is an equal opportunities employer !!
The pickup is the USA equivalent of the VW Transporter. Chevrolet Corvair based. Known as a hevrolet Rampside as the loading flap is at the side although they later offered a rear flap as well. Similar to VW, camper-van and mini-bus versions were produced. The Chevrolet model is from Ebay USA and sold with the caveat that is a rough casting needing much work to finish. I gave 5 stars for the description being accurate :-)
