Hello chaps!
My name's Jamie, 51 (and should know better
), professional Musician/Recording Artist from Scarborough - the Monaco of the North....Hah! - and I'm absolutely thrilled to have discovered this corner of the internet .
I've been looking for a decent website/community specifically for Scalextric-botherers, and it would certainly appear that I've found it.
So, many many moons ago when I was about 11, my Sister showed up one Sunday afternoon with a box of random Scalextric bits-&-bobs, procured from an auction house that very day. And while it was a welcome gift and had a fairly reasonable selection of stuff, it didn't take long for a slightly extended figure of eight to get boring, in tandem with the annoyance of dodgy connections and a lack of replacement braids getting on my tits.
So a couple of months later, it got boxed back up and donated to a local charity shop.
Fast forward 40 years to last August, and history repeated itself - but on a much grander scale - because I was gifted *five* (yes....five :O) full Scalextric sets, mint and boxed, alongside a bunch of accessories, from a couple who were moving abroad.
Of course, now being an Adult, with a pretty sizeable apartment, mercifully freshly divorced, and being able to do what the *bloody hell* I choose, I completely embraced the opportunity and haven't looked back.
I absolutely love it.
Aside from Scalextric (and Music, of course), Technical LEGO is my bag, as well as RC cars, and pretty much anything to do with four wheels.
Anyway, looking forward to getting stuck in here.
