Yikes - I apparently have turned into a lurker-only.  The Palmer Divide has "almost" been recently completed after all these years LOL.  Still love racing on it, grandkids have made that another joyful experience in the hobby for me.

No sooner did I "finish" the track, we made the decision to move in order to be closer to our daughter and her family for personal reasons. The Florida retirement plan?  God apparently had other ideas about that LOL.  We were absolutely blessed that we were able to sell our house without needing a realtor, as a good friend wanted the house and property and it happened extremely fast - like 4 weeks and we were moved.

The fetching Mrs. R and I spent significant time disassembling the track for transport, but the 3 back-to-back summers where the AC had failed a few years ago did some damage to the MDF I wasn't expecting.  The moment I unbolted the table sections, the MDF split at each slot like peeling an Oreo cookie apart.  Likely, it was a result of the swelling and shrinking due to the heat and humidity. The splits went several feet into each section at each joint and literally destroyed it. My disappointment could not have been more as I really loved the track.

After I got back from the dump, I boxed all scenic bits and the cars, and we headed off to our next destination: Omaha, Nebraska. 

We found a home that is a 5 minute walk from our daughter's home, so again, God had a plan, but he also found me a decent home with a large, finished basement that is perfect for the next track.  It also is in a nice neighborhood with walking/biking opportunities.

The other important part of the story? Our son and his family are going to be moving here as well.  They knew once we made the decision they wanted to be close to everyone as well.

So, the PDR will rise from the ashes yet again and all the grandkids will get to cut their teeth on racing.  Not sure if there is a slot racing scene here yet, but I think I could start that... ;)

Anthony - I agree with your comment!

Already planning in my head the next iteration and many improvements.  Stoked to have a basement again as that means late night trips to the track don't require me going outside to sweat, get rained on, or eaten by alligators!
