Any AI programs for wooden track design?

I would like to see what it would come up with if there is any that exist.

As the possessor of zero intelligence, artificial or otherwise, I tend to get the router out and see where it leads. Far more interesting than all this pondering and wasting time. OK I might have a rough idea of where I want it to go but so often, paper (or otherwise) plans, whilst they may lead to a decent looking circuit, don't often lead to the most exiting or interesting to drive.

As someone more interested in getting slot cars to go as fast as possible (whilst still looking like scale models) the way a track drives is far more important than the way it looks. If it does look decent that's just the icing on the cake Cool

As AI has no possibility of experiencing the physical connection to a moving object (yet) I very much doubt it could do more than make sure the two ends of the slot line up.

Would that be a 'no-I' driven router

I was wondering because I have a somewhat restricted space that I've had 3 different tracks in...all virtually the same design.  My mancave is a one car garage, so it's about 20' long, 8' wide, but only about half that is available for track.  I've managed to fit almost 75' of track in there...[Image: qLqxo9X.jpg]
The problem is, I can only host racing for more than 4 people if the weather is good, and people can sit outside.  I am far from a good carpenter, so the track you see pictured started to fall apart.  I was hoping that AI could figure something different out, with good sight lines, access to cars that are off, and room for more than 5 people...I guess not!

Doug, have you fallen into the trap of thinking more track is better?
Sometimes with slotcar tracks less can be more.
Get your HB and some foolscap and start drawing then leave it for 24 hours before having another look and maybe revising your ideas.

You have an L shaped space available, right?

Sight lines are always going to be a problem. I used extended controller leads and the drivers could stand back but then a marshal would have to rush in to reslot a car. Not ideal.

I'll be honest Doug, I'm not a fan of that 4 tier section at the back, it reminds me of the first episode of Captain Scarlet, racing up a multi-storey car park.

If it was my track I'd get rid of the top 2 tiers (in yellow) and join back onto the straight (in red)

...but that looks a marvellous quality track  Thumbup

I believe Angelo Amato can draw a track design so it can be CNC routed!

Cheers,

John
