Manx Slot Car Club 2025 Race results & reports etc.
#81

Race report and results - 23rd Oct 2025 - 50’s & 60’s Monsters & Minis

.
Four ‘Monsters’ and four ‘Minis’ made for some interesting racing.
Two rounds of racing with five minute heats
Two Monsters vs two Minis in both rounds
Mix-and-match cars on track
One Modified Class and three Open Class Minis
…and four Monsters in four different classes meant everyone won a class
.
Brian turned up with a Dodge Charger but didn’t do much charging after a bit of practice as the pinion moved along the motor shaft and out of mesh… (again!)
…the advice before tonight was tin the motor shaft before fitting the pinion
The SCX NASCAR he raced instead had a couple of good early race dices but faded away towards the end of the heats.
No problems with the Mini, it was just a bit outclassed by bigger faster cars in its heats.
.
Ed’s Camaro prepared over many weeks for a previous proxy goes really well, giving a good account of itself with a heat win.
His Mini had a couple of good races, one against Brian’s ‘Monster’ and the other with Jamie’s Metro.
.
Jamie is new to these cars, it’s only his second week but he really enjoyed driving the big Galaxie 500 and had to do some work on the Metro as it was far too lightweight.
Heat wins with both cars was a good night for him.
.
Kev raced two of his favourites, both well developed cars that were too quick to keep up with.  Racing alongside other Monsters & Minis was very enjoyable.

Next week is the AGM, followed by an open racing session. Plenty to talk about. Bring some goodies.

Race report and results - 6th November 2025 - NSRMosler ‘Club Challenge’ #9 followed by Saloons
.

The last round of this year's NSR Mosler ‘Club Challenge’ Championship saw a full turnout of cars and drivers for some great racing and quick laps.
.
Double points for everyone except Kev would see the final points table look much closer.
.
Andy & Brian were really close at the end of the night, as were Chris & Mike, as were Ed & Gav.  It’s good to see that everyone has competitive racing to enjoy with these cars.
.
These have been brilliant cars to race, still on the same tyres for three years and look like there’s at least another year of racing in those tyres.
The only things needing replacing so far are braids.

Championship results

…here’s looking forward to the 2026 championship
.
Saloons
.

  • One Modified Class car (Ed)
  • Four ProStock Class cars (Kev, Brian, Chris, Gav)
  • Two Open Class cars (Andy, Mike)

Despite the class differences, we saw some close finishes between:
  • Chris’s little Alfa GTV and Gav’s Opel Calibra
  • Brian’s Opel Calibra and Mike’s Mustang
  • Ed’s Ninco Opel Calibra was somewhere between these two pairings
  • Andy’s Jag and Kev’s Peugeot 406 proxy car
.

…there’s only one more outing for the Saloons this year

Race report and results - 20th November 2025 - Club Revoslots followed by Sports
.
The Mountain Road was shut, snow on the hills, freezing cold and hence we were down on numbers but still a good turnout for some great racing.
.
Club Revoslots

.
  • Everyone used the same cars on the same lanes
  • Everyone used the same controllers on the same lanes
  • 200 second heats
.
Mike had a bit of a ‘mare in Red lane and would have been right in the middle of the gaggle of four cars chasing Andy & Kev.
.
There’s a definite way to drive these cars as they handle differently to a plastic chassis car, not as forgiving and will catch you out when you think you’re being careful.
Everyone had close racing and deslots, those with the fewest deslots finished at the top end of the results but overall pace was very similar for everyone.

.
Sports

.
After the Revoslots, it was nice to drive our own Sports cars, although Chris chose to carry on racing a Revoslot, this time a Mercedes GTR which is hugely improved compared to it’s first appearance on the track, these cars need a lot of ‘running in’ (which the club cars get). The Merc is just about on the pace of the Club Revoslots now.
.
  • A couple of NSR Moslers (Brian & Jamie) and Kev’s Thunderslot McLaren in Prostock Class
  • A trio of Open Class cars headed by Andy’s Racer Riley on a Mack chassis, Mike’s UOP Shadow DN4 on a Eurosport chassis and Chris’s Revoslot which is now classified as Open Class now that these kinds of cars are everyday cars rather than the novelty they were after their initial release on the market.
.
Brian & Jamie were close in Prostock Class, Jamie getting into the 6.1’s with the club NSR Mosler.  Brian thought he was off-the-pace tonight, looking at his race pace it looks like he was right as he was much quicker in practice.
This was another first for Jamie having never raced a NSR Mosler before, he did really well, a first and two second places are competitive.
.
Chris & Mike weren’t too far apart in Open Class, the UOP Shadow DN4 has a nasty habit of kicking the back end right round and locking the guide which requires marshal intervention and lost time, but he loves driving it and it is quick down the straights.
.
The other two cars were too far ahead in their classes to be caught, and again not that far apart overall at the end but Andy’s falcon powered Riley was too quick for Kev’s predator powered McLaren to compete with.  Both cars easily lapping the track under 6 seconds in all three lanes proving the NSR Mosler isn’t always king.

.
Sadly no video this week as the laptop used for recording has a terminal problem…it won’t switch on.
…but a replacement is on it’s way

Next week is F1 followed by Group 5
…hopefully it won’t be icy and freezing cold

Race report and results - 27th November 2025 - F1 followed by Group 5
.
A full house tonight…YAY!... with some super racing and the chance to see some new cars.
.
F1

.
The chance to see an NSR 2022 in action, an early pressie for Jamie, setup by Andy… it’s fair to say it looks more stable and sure-footed than the earlier NSR F1’s.
.
  • NSR F1’s for all but two of us
  • Kev & Andy racing for Open Class honours
  • …everyone else racing for best ProStock honours
.
Yes these a quick!... one in particular too quick to control fully as Andy’s Ligier was at right angles to the direction of travel at times but the fastest car down the main straight all night.
Kev’s MB/Allslot ‘Black Bull’ was quick enough to keep clear and ‘feels slow’ apparently… to have a comfortable lead at the end.
.
The NSR F1’s - Brian was chuffed with his cars performance, two good runs in Yellow and Blue lanes.
.
Jamie & Mike finished about half a second apart overall, that’s a brilliant advert for the new NSR F1.
Chris seemed to have a lot of problems with his F1 which enabled Ed to get dangerously close at the end.
Gav best run by far was in Yellow lane.

.
Group 5

.
  • Mostly Racer Group 5’s, Chris’s Skyline was the only standard car, the rest had SlotIt pods.  The new class rules say these are now all ProStocks so maybe best upgrading standard cars with SlotIt pods to keep up (plus they go better anyway).
  • Two non-Racer cars, Kev’s MRRC Toyota Celica in Modified Class and Jamie’s Carrera Pantera in Open Class
.
The midfield is where the real excitement is, Chris, Brian, Mike & Jamie trying to beat each other, it’s often down to the last lap between them.  Tonight Chris’s Skyline had a safe distance to the trio of chasing cars.
.
Gav’s Capri was handling like a caravan, one of the two body screws fallen out (TAPE! ) so we threw a yellow flag to check the car over, cleaned the tyres and carried on…
…this gave Ed’s Porsche the chance to get away with a heat win and two second places.
.
Andy’s Capri was too quick to catch whilst Kev’s Toyota showed what a carefully upgraded basic car can do.

.
—-------------------------------------
Kev turned up with a new laptop so racing videos are back!
…plus a 2 minute club night racing video to share to interested groups
 ----------------------------------------

Next week is a special theme night, it’s the Le Manx winter series.  The first part of the evening will be for classic Le Mans cars (pre-1975) followed later in the evening by Group C & LMP cars.
