Manx Slot Car Club 2025 Race results & reports etc. - Kevan - 4th-Jan-25

Race report - 2nd January 2025 - Club Revoslots followed by F1
.
A great way to start the new year, Club Revoslots which seem to go forever followed by the superfast F1's
.
Seven of us turned up after the Christmas break, talks of new cars and catching up after the holiday.

.
Ed, Paul & Kev raced each other whilst Brian, Andy, Chris & Mike shared the other heats in three's.
.
Heat #4 was the closest finish of the lot as Mike (Red lane), Brian (Yellow lane) & Andy (Blue lane) all finished less than a lap apart.

F1

. Brian opted to race with Paul & Ed whilst Andy, Chris, Mike & Kev shared the other heats.
.
F1's are easy to race but very difficult to safely overtake in corners and with dramatic performance differences we rarely see close racing...but they are enjoyable all the same.

Next week is Group 5's followed by Small Sports/Saloons

Race results and report - 16 January 2025 - ‘Battle of Britain’ Team race
.
The first of this years theme nights is a new one, ‘Battle of Britain’ for British and German cars….PLENTY of choice there then!

[attachment=39090]
.
The choice of cars was very varied:
.
Everyone ran 5 qually laps then the cars were seeded from slowest to fastest, then teams were selected starting with the slowest qualifier which was Chris with his E-type Jag who chose Andy’s XJ12C Jaguar as his team-mate.  Then it was next slowest to choose and so-on:
.
Races were 200 seconds each…let battle (of Britain) commence!
.
The closest races on track were between Andy & Brian with only fractions of a lap between them in Heat #3 of Round 1 and Heat #4 of Round 2.
.
After all the racing that we enjoyed, how did it finish up?...all is revealed in the results chart.

.
The next team race theme night to be run in the same manner is the end of February with Italian cars filling our pit boxes.

Grand Prix & Prewing F1

.
The Grand Prix cars were scrutineered before racing, on the whole the cars were within limits.
The usual favourites were brought out to race and a couple of ‘racing incidents’ were caught on camera.
.
It’s amazing how we see so many different ways to build a car, Ed raced a Standard Class Cartrix which goes exceptionally well for an out-of-the-box car, but the rest were all unique (there’s a Murray Walker quote in there somewhere).
.
Brian & Kev racing Modified Class cars, Vanwall vs Mercedes W196
Chris’s Maserati 250F raced against Andy’s Ferrari 156 in Open Class due to being too wide across the rear wheels.

Saloons

[attachment=39310]
.
Ed again choosing to race a Standard Class car, it’s become his trademark, his Ninco Opel marginally quicker but easier to manage than the Lancia D50 raced in the GP event.
.
A couple of Modified Class cars, one huge - Kev’s Galaxie 500, and one small - Chris’s Alfa GTV
.
A pair of Open Class cars, Andy’s Jag and Brian’s Peugeot 406

.
Chris was asking what kind of cars we used in the Saturday Scalextric Club and what we can do to them.
We’ve used cars with no motor pods, no ballast or tuning and replaced the tyres without gluing or truing - although we have seen ‘scuffing’ of tyres on one or two cars only.
The red NSR tyres work really well and are seen on quite a few cars.
Cars seen so far are mainly Scalextric with one or two Ninco, Fly and SCX…but the quickest seem to be Scalextric and drive really nicely which is a pleasant surprise.
…the original magnet is kept in place but the cars must stay within the limit on the mag checker

Next week is NSR Mosler ‘Club Challenge 2025’ #1 followed by TV/Film cars
