Slot Rally GB 2025 Unofficial Thread
#11

Looks like five of us from WHO are going up to Oxford in two weeks time. And there was some busy preparations this weekend, which also spawned new stages for our local slot rally events.

These are my four cars going to Oxford, the Galant still requiring numbers and a rally plate to be added…

I really enjoyed getting the Avant Slot ready. Still a bit noisy though.

Hi Woodcote,

That looks like a lot of fun!

I would love to move to the UK to join you guys. But, custom aluminum chassis are not legal in the UK. So, I must remain in Canada.  Bigsmile

Good luck with the race!!!

Ken, you should have popped over for the weekend. Spring was in the air, and you could have provided some ice cubes for our g&t's!

A varied testing session on some of the regular rally stages in the Worthing area enabled me to settle on my entries for the Championship...

For me, it's an opportunity to run some proven fast cars, although not necessarily in my hands!

I have defaulted to a basic DS 45ohm controller to keep things simple on the day, avoiding any confusion around sensitivity or brake settings, and with the ability to run on both positive and negative track power.

It's not a car we ever see on our Rally stages...unless the SRGB boys are in town (or city as it's now officially called)

I think I might drop it from my squad and bring in a more interesting car.

It was a cracking day - very enjoyable! And six quality stages.

I've posted a report of our WHO trip here. It was great to get five of us up from the South Coast. And Mike D did brilliantly with second places in Modern and Classic. I am very much looking forward to studying the results when they are published (hopefully Tuesday).

I was mostly happy with my four cars. I had a couple of unexpected issues with the Subaru - and tantalisingly finished fourth in Modern. The Ninco Porsche was a lot of fun, but up against the SRC Porsches, does need more work to get it higher than tenth. But the work I did for yesterday meant a big step-up from Farnborough last year.

I was absolutely delighted with the Avant Slot Galant. It still has room for improvement, but fifth in the Eighties/Nineties class was a real surprise. That 80-second run on Nobby's Nightmare was peak adrenaline of the day and my most memorable moment.

I think it will be the final Slot Rally GB outing for the SCX Swift (and probably my other SCX cars). Dropping the SCX and Scalextric classes from the series means a big mismatch in power and handling between the SCX cars and the others - and that didn't help me learn the stage and build up the speed. What to replace it? I do have a few options. The other three cars stay for Farnborough in June.

Why not upgrade the chassis and running gear on the Swift.
