Targa Florio night
#1

Targa Florio night...

.
Five club members plus a visit from Mark to see how we're doing and have a go on a couple of tracks...
.
It's always good to see all four tracks in action plus we got to use the Ninco lap timer after it's sensor mod - it worked perfectly (when it wasn't half way down a flat out straight).
.
Mike brought a couple of Shelby Cobras, not seen in action for a long time and the one he chose went well.  The spare car was one of three sent to a proxy about 7 years ago.
.
Chris brought an E-type Jag (as expected) but decided his yellow Alpine A110 was much more competitive.  He managed to hold it back for most of the time but it started getting wayward nearer the 3 minute mark.  On the big track it was setting competitive lap times for a Small Sports car.
.
Kev practiced with his Ferrari 312 PB for a while but decided to use his Porsche 908/3.  He's raced it before on the big track but it seemed to go really well on the tight twisty Rally stages.
.
Ford GT40's were popular in the last Targa Florio night, tonight just the two (three actually if you include Brian's which threw a braid so was swapped for a club GT40) which went as well on the Rally stages as it does on the big track.  Geoff racing the NSR version (one of three yellow cars tonight) with rear tyres scrabbling for grip on Little Druidale's double loop...needed to get a lap back on Brian on Ballayorkley, but lost another lap in Heat #3 on Ballayorkley in Red lane - "I'm good in Red" coming back to haunt him...nice one Murray.
.
I looked through some Targa Florio results to find what classes these cars were in and added those to the results table.
.
The three results tables are listed by:
  • overall lap score
  • Targa Florio car type
  • MSCC class type

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next week is GP/Prewing F1 followed by Small Sports/Saloons which will be a relatively slow nights racing as these are the two slowest classes we race.  No doubt it'll be a great nights racing as that seems to be the norm this year.
Kevan,
Nice work. Looks like a lot of fun was had by everyone!  Thumbup
I would have loved to have thrown a Ferrari 512S into the mix. Long drive for me. Maybe next time.
Salute to Nino Vaccarella and the Targa Florio!
I was tempted, a Fly 512S sits besides the Porsche 908/3 in my pit box but the Ferrari isn't as well developed.
