MSCC 2024 Race results & reports etc.
#21

Race results - 2nd May 2024 - Club Revoslots followed by Saloons.

A decent turnout tonight with 4 minute races and another chance to drive what have turned out to be brilliant club cars...Revoslot GT 2's with the original tyres on showing little wear after 3 years - first raced in June 2021, bought in December 2020 but covid brought out the red flag for a while.
.
The overall result was close at the end of 12 minutes racing each.  The three cars have distinct characters, the red Porsche definitely feels the quickest, the yellow Marcos feels the easiest to race hard whilst the blue Viper is smooth but feels tall and narrow with a tendency to deslot in sharp corners.

Saloons

A good mix of cars with 4 different class winners:
Ed's 'Back 2 Basics' Ninco Mercedes 190 DTM
Kev's Standard Class SlotIt Opel Calibra DTM
Mike B's Modified Class Jaguar XJ12C
...and a couple of Open Class cars, Brian & Andy's Peugeot 406, one on a Mack chassis the other on a Pitlane chassis.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next week should be contrasting...fast and furious Sports followed by fun TV/Film cars
Race results - 9th May 2024 - Sports followed by TV/Film Cars #2
.
The weather has definitely suddenly cheered up and the evenings are getting light as we leave after racing.
.
Sports...
.
Only one Mosler (well someone has to don't they) and no two cars the same which makes a nice change, in fact there were no two similar cars all evening.
.
The six cars were put together into two distinct groups which created some great close racing.
.
Ed, Mike B & Chris raced together whilst Brian, Andy & Kev raced together.
.
The closest race was Heat #2 which Brian led for so long before being hauled back by first Andy then Kev, all three finishing the race less than 2.5 seconds apart.
.
Chris racing his favoured Dome Judd which looks so good on track these days.
Andy racing a proxy car for the Goodwood Revival Proxy in August.
Kev racing a scrapheap recovered Thunderslot McLaren M6A.
Mike racing a resin UOP DN4.
Ed racing his favourite Group C Jag XJR9.
...and Brian racing an old Mosler that's been sat for a year or more with a SlotIt controller whilst his Truspeed is being serviced (the SlotIt controller is growing on him).
.
Heat wins in heat order for Chris, Andy, Mike B & Kev
.
TV/Film Cars...
.
A couple of new entrants to this, Brians recently acquired Pioneer Dukes of Hazzard Dodge Charger and Mike B's 'Avengers' Steeds Jag XJ12C (with a slow motor honest).
.
The car bonus sheet was filled in, some cars lost out here as this is to discourage 'racing specials' being developed for what's supposed to be a 'Back to Basics' event.
.
There were also race bonus laps depending on each cars fastest heat laps.  This is to close the gap between the faster cars and the slower ones.
.
Last time out Chris's James Bond Lotus was sliding all over the place but definitely went better tonight after much oiling of tyres over recent weeks.
.
Mike's Jag has a 'slow' motor which he struggled to drive slowly, getting carried away in his last race showing the cars true pace and therefore too fast to pick up bonus laps for that race.
.
Andy's 'Back to the Future' Delorean is quick, keeping below that magic 88mph as his car is now losing head and tail lights.
.
Kev's 'The Batman' not as quick as the Delorean but only one deslot made up for it at the end.
.
Brian's new Dodge Charger definitely put a smile on his face, a happy man after his first race.
.
Whilst Ed awaits Scalextric releasing his eagerly awaited Batmobile he raced the old one and sooooo nearly won Heat #3
.
Heat wins in heat order for Brian, Kev & Mike B
Race results - 16th May 2024 - GP/PW F1 followed by NSR Mosler 'Club Challenge' #4
.
Grand Prix & Prewing F1
.
There were Back-to-Basics, Modified and Open class GP cars plus an Open Class Prewing F1.
.
Brian’s Cartrix Lancia Ferrari has had much time put into getting it running nicely, it doesn’t get round the track as fast as his Scaley Vanwall with a slab of lead underneath but it’s a standard B2B class entry and goes well for that class.
.
Kev’s little Merc W165 was built a few years ago and is his most consistent GP runner, the slab of copper sheet underneath helps a lot in corners.
.
The real race was in the GP Open Class as Chris’s Maserati,, Mike B’s Merc W196  and Gav’s Lancia Ferrari (now with a sensible 22k motor instead of the 47k Falcon) looked much easier to control on the difficult Red lane but didn’t like the easy Blue lane.
Chris’s Maserati was the class car in this trio whilst Mike did a car swap between heats as his ‘this hasn’t been out for YEARS!’ Merc was suffering.
.
Andy’s Ferrari 156 again chosen after testing a ‘tippy’ Alfa Romeo Bimotore.
.
NSR Mosler ‘Club Challenge’ #4
.
Championship battle…
.
Three drivers in the championship which is shaping up nicely this year with Mike B closing in on Chris overall and Gav not far behind.
.
Non-championship battle…
.
This one is even closer with Andy just ahead of both Kev & Brain who are on the same points although Brian is the only ‘Challenger’ to have run all four rounds.
…..
Next week is Slot Rally…and we’ll have three Rally stages for the first time ever thanks to Mike B agreeing to let Carpark Chaos have a home in the club room.
Race results - 30th May 2024 - Club BMW 320i followed by Small Sports/Saloons
.
TT practice week was upon us, roads filling up with bikes (and a few supercars) mayhem and 'road closed due to RTC'
 .
A chance for those who weren't working...on holiday...or recovering from being on holiday...made it to race the Club BMW's.  It was great to see Mike H back again.
These are definitely quicker than they used to be on the unpainted track.  It's also amazing to see the wildly differing controller settings that club members use with the same cars and controllers.
.
Not much in it after three 4 minute heats, costly deslots eating painfully into overall scores.
.
Small Sports/Saloons
The usual favourites in this class, Andy's Merc 300SLR, Kev's Chaparral, Brians Ferrari...and a chance to see Mike H's Minisprint again.
The Merc & Chaparral were flying round whilst Brian had a frustrating evening with the Ferrari, it's quick but throws itself into the bushes for some strange reason.  Mike's Minisprint is about where this class was a few years ago and goes well for a Mini.
Next week is Mike H's favourite event, Le Manx
