Stewart Raceway

Stewart Raceway currently consists of two custom routed H.O. scale raceways: Stewart Raceway II is a residential 4-lane, 70′ routed track situated indoors in an air-conditioned environment; Stewart Raceway III is a 6-lane 78′ routed track situated in a detached garage on the same premises with a bit more room for larger race meets. Both tracks convert to multiple layouts, including oval racing.

We regularly meet for races or track days every Saturday.

Stewart Raceway is located in the California Bay Area’s Santa Cruz Mountains, just minutes away from Highway 17 and Summit Road.

Yes, as you probably know already, slot car racing is way fun. We're trying to keep the hobby/sport going after we old guys are gone. Already had the "slot car cops" try to to mess us up. We're starting over with mostly box stock rules to allow new folks to more easily get into it and be competitive.

How's the slot car scene up north?

Hi Steve,

There's one HO club I know about. I only send HO cars to drag-race proxies for now. I'm planning to build a routed HO track this winter.

I'm also a member of several 1/32 clubs. I have to pick and choose my races or I'm in trouble.

Toronto is a lively place for slot cars.

Ah, 1/32 is cool. I just never got into it because I don't have enough room to have a meaningful track layout and commercial raceways have gone by the wayside here in California. Trying to generate more interest in HO home racing around here, we'll see how it goes. Thanks for your comments!

Excuse my knowledge of American geography, but Jim Rose on the World Wide Zoom Chat seems to describe an active HO and 1/32 slot car racing scene on Northern California/Sacremento area...anywhere near you?

Yes, in fact I used to race Fray cars with that group quite a bit. Gave up Fray racing due to the silly magnet situation and other unfair rules. Some of us go up to the Sacramento area (3 hour drive) now and then to race at Roseville Raceway and Thunder Hill Raceways in nearby Loomis, CA. Both are very cool 4-lane HO tracks. Way different rules so not really compatible with what we're doing here on the Central Coast. I don't do 1/32 stuff but many around here and the Sacramento area do.
