This was my LAST layout. I rented space for two years, had to take it down when I lost the space.

This track is very rare true 1/24 scale (4" lane centers) Scalextric THREE lane track. Known as Scalextric's Super 124 line, the track was manufactured for only two years in the late 60's, and never imported into the US, where I am. The track was sold in two sets, as well as separate and special track sections were available.

Interestingly, the sets came with only 2 cars, and 2 controllers, and NO power supply. Scalextric recommended a separate power supply for each lane. Who would want a three lane track with only two cars and no power? Talk about a built-in up-sell.

The track takes up a lot of space, so Scalextric actually marketed it as being able to be set up, and left setup, outside. Simply wiped it down before use. With actual stainless rails, as opposed to plated, this was possible. I assembled my lot of about 150 sections total in small lots from the UK, France, Netherlands, and Spain. I know of only three other people in the US that owns any quantity of this track.

My layout had both radius turns (which could be nested to create 6 lane layouts). A lot of the shoulders were 3D printed from scans of originals. Straight sections are only 10.75" long, as opposed to the more typical 12" of most brands. While the quality of the track compared favorably, 50+ years later with Carerra or other brands, the shorter straights do make for more 'clackity clack' inherent in plastic track. Fortunately, the section to section conductivity remains the best I've seen in home plastic track.

In addition to two radius curves, special sections included hump sections to create bridges, and a MASSIVE banked turn. I owned at one time two complete banked turns, but they really didn't work that well and I sold them off.

I still set this up for special occasions. I've set it up at local slot car shows (without any scenery), and last September I set up a replica of the Lotus test track at its factory at Hethel for the annual Lotus Owners Gathering (LOG) that was held at Canaan Valley, WVA.

I do you a single modern MG variable and regulated power supply. More than enough for our club racing. PC Lapcounter race management system, running through Track-mate hardware.

I currently have about 150 sections of this track in plastic storage bins, for want of space to set up.

That's great  Thumbup

You hardly ever see the Scalextric 1/24 scale track, especially in that quantity,  must have been  great to race on.

Thanks for posting  Checkeredflag

I have always wanted these sets but the selling price these days are just beyond my means. However I have managed to collect 3 of the cars over the years for reasonable prices.....

Probably the best - along with the first 2 vintage cars - that Scalextric produced in the 60's

Great track and thanks for joining and sharing here Thumbup Thumbup

Very Nice!!! I'm a big Lotus fan, so I too have picked up a complete Lotus 38 (Scalex marketed as Indy Special). Although I admit to paying mid/high end of current market for one in this condition.
