Ach ! Now I've done it !
Following the start I gave my father, and the announcement from Hornby about the new (to us) TT120 scale, I was interested in seeing what dads layout scaled down would be size wise.
So I got on the track planner and downloaded a beta addition for the TT track parts.
If it was me, I would have had the track run as a true double track, and likely digital.
So I used his layout as a guide (i designed it and still like the layout) and tweaked for a dual circuit with the TT track, this is what I came up with:
And it fits on an 8x3 ft (2400x900mm) board very nicely, allows for a 4 coach train to park at the station.
After a bit of thought, I found a way to fit this in my dining room with a little reshuffle and a reluctant agreement from the good lady
So I have preordered the "Scotsman" set (Which isn't the "fFying Scotsman", but is the same class loco named "Blink Bonny"), and ordered a few track pieces to ensure the track planer is correct before I fully commit !
I do plan for this to be fully scenic to the best of my ability.
I did think of using Peco track as that sits a more scale accurate height, but their points are more than twice the price of the Hornby, so Ill bury some of it under the gravel
Off to ebay to source a S/H DCC controller and chip for when the set comes .... Refreshingly, unlike slot cars, all makes of chip work with all other makes DCC stuff !
Its a slippery slope, and I fell down it
