It's quite good timing, you replying to this, Tibbs.
Next Monday 21/2/22 our track owner is hoping to permanently restart the Monday night club which is more aimed at the beginner/casual racer than our Thursday night club which is currently at full capacity. Club controllers (Basic Truspeeds) are available and all classes are chosen from cars that can be supplied by the club if necessary.
If you fancy coming down, even just to have a look, that will be fine. You may get hassled into racing by the others there, they are a great bunch. We race from 7.30 to 10ish, and someone is usually there from 7pm on.
Feel free to PM me if you want to know any more.

Been scratching my head trying to work out if that was deliberate or simply that nobody noticed. If nobody on the production team or nobody at Hornby HQ noticed then that is a real howler.
I might have a look back through some of the earlier programmes and see if I can spot a Revell Spitfire in the Airfix episode. 'Other model airplane kits are also available'.

Hey Jules, Tyneside Slot Car club is me, I was the guy on the TV, Callum is my Son, they were his Pioneer cars, one more modified than the other.
To answer your question, yes the production company knew, I actually made a point in saying that a routed wood track and a range of slot cars wasn't for sure a true representation of Scalextric. The vibe they wanted however was showing where it can lead to, it being a toy in the house to a custom built slot car raced at a club with members.
They said the series was created due to a re-kindling of interested across the brand and wanted to promote and demonstrate the fun associated with that, so they weren't that bothered it wasn't actuall Scalextric branded cars.
Brian Lee who also featured with his scratch built cars as well as his Scalextric collection, is a member of the club and races regularly
All good fun !!, Cheers

Of course, to the vast majority of UK TV viewers, Slot-Cars = Scalextric and they would not know nor even want to know the difference. So Hornby get the kudos regardless of the actual manufacturer.
Same probably applies to Airfix but perhaps not so much to the railway products.

Did anyone actually get to see this?
Although scheduled in both our paper and on screen TV guides and titled as such on our timer recording it turned out, at least in our area, to be a WWII documentary.
