Autumn Endurance - InterSeries Proxy

(21st-Oct-22, 04:32 PM)Graham Wrote:  I am using a Scaleauto gauge to measure track clearance, it is not perfect if I check it with my digital caliper, as I have found that the increments on it can be plus or minus 0.02 mm out, depending on which step you are using.

I'll have to look for one of those for future use, my metal sheet offcuts were around 0.1~0.15 mm shy IIRC

Wavegreen Good morning

So to start with a quick photo session this morning

InterSeries (Class D)

Ruscillo Racing - Ford GT40

Classic Slot it car with standard body, chassis and SW 23K motor. No lights fitted

Test Run -  As you would expect a very smooth running car, great around the corners. Does not feel exceptionally fast but very consistent.

ALS Racing - Ferrari 330

Classic Policar with standard body, chassis and SW 23K motor. No lights fitted

Test Run - This did feel a little faster, but also very good on the corners and very smooth.

Courtney Sport - Porsche 917/10

NSR based body and chassis but with a metal motor mount and SW Predator 22.5k rpm motor.  Brake Lights fitted to rear

Test Run - Into the very fast league of entrant cars, very easy to run, fast everywhere.

Rokers Roar - Lola T260

Resin cast body on JS Design Chassis. AW Flat 6 22k motor. Brake lights fitted.

Test Run- Probably not going to be the fastest car in the class, but great to run, and was very sure footing around the corners. Great looking self decorated car, and something a little different from the norm. Just hoping that that spoiler on the front stays in place.

Mountain View- Alfa T33

SRC body with Olifer chassis and SW Piranha PSM21 motor. Full set lights

Test Run - one of the smaller cars but very well put together as you might expect from this team. In the very fast league and holds the track around the corners very well.

Team Groundhogs - Ford GT40

Standard Slot it body, chassis and SW motor. Complete set of lights

Test Run - not one of the fastest cars, seemed a little less smooth on running than similar cars, but quite steady around the track.

Lifeboats Racing - Porsche 917/30

Carrera body ......but with a NSR chassis and AW motor 21.5K. No Lights fitted.
The guys from across the pond might struggle to find records of the Lifeboat Racing Teams car listed in the Can Am series, and perhaps their car was never quite registered in the series, although if it had been it would have looked like this  Rofl Needed a little maintenance to get this one running consistently, but the team were kept informed.

Test Run - It is one of the heavier models, so I don't think it will be one of the fastest but it is monster of a car and very wide, therefore  very stable around the corners, and with that NSR running gear might throw a few surprises especially around some of the larger and faster tracks.

Savage GT - Ferrari 512M

Slot it body kit with SW BRM 23k motor. Front lights

Test Run - Umm, very interesting, it is "Super quick" around the Harlequin. And of course I should say what a fantastic job on the livery. I would not know that this was a self decorated model. First class  Thumbup

Brumos RSR - Mclaren M6A

Thunderslot body and chassis fitted with a brass motor mount and AW Predator 22.5K motor. No lights fitted.
The back axle decided to seize up at the start of the test run, so I had to take this one apart to find the problem. Still don't really know what was causing the issue as when I replaced the axle it was running OK again. I won't mention the quality of the self decoration or lack of decal numbers, but I think it was from the same garage as the Porsche 904  Bigsmile

Test Run- It will be in the very fast league as you might expect, but "Super- fast" ...... not so sure, at least here.

Team Cube- Porsche 917

GB Track body and chassis, fitted with a standard Fly SW 18k motor. front lights fitted

Test Run - steady running car but not so fast, love the standard livery and the lower lights fitted at the front looked great.

So the plan is to finish the Scrutineer Report for this class, and then make the first run tonight for the Classes A & B as the dusk approaches.

A length of piano wire is cheap and easy to feed under cars and move back/forth.

...or 3D print a simple ground clearance scrutineering block.  Here's one I just drew up in the last few minutes with 1.5mm ground clearance (it could be any distance)

Life is like a box of Slot cars... Cool Drinkingcheers

That sounds ambiguous, now I am worried  Sweating
Thank you for your kind words about the paint, It was supposed to be my first air-brushed car, but I couldn't get on with an airbrush so ended up being rubbed back to primer and finished with Tamiya cans, even then I wasn't happy with the first colour (called Camel Yellow, so I had hopes) so it got another coat of a lighter yellow, probably now a lot thicker/heavier than a factory body  Rofl

OK As Graham prepares for the first round, I wish everyone good luck, and may the slot gods be with you (but a little bit more with me in class A and D)  Bigsmile

Good luck everyone, on paper this is a very competitive proxy with a lot of performance oriented cars, looking forward to running them in round 2  Checkeredflag

i use it in conjunction with my setup block , works well , free STL for you 3DP guys :)
