So, it's been a while.....
Back in February, Chief Engineer Scuderia_Turini (Leo) offered this snorkel platform and base as a free item, with just the postage to be covered. As soon as I saw it I said "Yes Please", it would fit perfectly onto my Shed End Circuit layout.
It arrived the very next day, was given a quick clean and repaired where the snorkel fits onto the platform base.
Next up it was time to slightly alter the area where I wanted to position it.
With that completed it was put to one side, awaiting a nice warm sunny day to get it painted. This was done some weeks back.
The base was painted metallic bronze, I had nearly a whole can left over after doing a resin Nash Healey, and it looked a cool colour.
It came up great, very pleased with the colour and finish. I then decided to add some Solar Productions signage. This of course was the film production company of the legendary Steve McQueen. Simply stick on letters of a proportionate size, but the effect is nice.
A little VW crew van was picked up on eBay, and the Solar Productions logo added. The figures have yet to have their bases painted and covered with grass scatter material, but this will get done soon.
It fits so well into this area on the track, so a very Big Thank You to Leo for offering the item, and for the generous gesture of only asking for the postage to be covered.
As for racing on Club nights..... Yes, an eager Marshall did send the whole lot flying, with the poor cameraman ending up at the other end of the straight, but luckily still in one piece!
