Camera platform/snorkel -
Scuderia_Turini - 15th-Feb-22
Hello all,
Is this any use to anyone? Either just the snorkel part or both the snorkel and the base. I am thinking it would be suitable as a camera post for a racing circuit layout. The base unit has extending stabiliser legs. A coat of BBC green or such would conceal its origins.
Not looking for any payment other than reimbursement of actual shipping costs. The snorkel is plastic and fairly light, the base unit has a die-cast metal top and legs and so will increase the shipping cost a bit.
Located in UK.
If interested, message me soon or it will be re-cycled at the end of the month.

Yes please Leo!
I have been looking for something similar, with no luck. There is a perfect place for just such an item on my Shed End Circuit.
If you let me know the cost I will sort a PayPal payment for you.
Many thanks,
Pip

Hello Pip,
That was quick! Do you want the base? Or perhaps just the stabiliser legs without the body part? They are nicely detailed.

Hi Leo,
I think the base as well please.
If I didn't use the original base I would need to construct something to mount the platform on, so this looks a good bet. I have a very specific area for it to fit into, but it does need to be at almost full stretch for it to work, so will repaint and use the base to mount it on.
Thanks,
Pip

Pip has seized the opportunity, hopefully we will see how it ends up.
Just in closing I thought I would show what sort of vehicle the snorkel unit came from, specifically the type of toy fire-engine.
It is a FIAT 697 made by Barlux of Italy in 1:35 scale. I ended up with the fire-engine bits after I converted one to a car-transporter.

Hi Leo,
Lucky you didn't post this picture earlier, as I would have been after the nice looking blue Citroen (?) van to the right as well!
Will post some pictures when the platform is in its new home.
Thanks,
Pip

I totally scratch-built that HY van using flat plastic sheet that has overlap shuttering type surface (Evergreen Plastic iirc). The curved bits are filler shaped suitably. It was easier to do than I thought. Its a static item.
I finished it as a Marchal support van but nowadays these vans are commonplace as catering outlets at outdoor events so that might be an inspiration for you.

Clever stuff Leo,
That is definitely something I would like to have a go at. Those HY corrugated type vans are big business now. It is amazing how many you can spot at events, especially the Goodwood Revival!! Another idea to put on the list " of things to do".......

Not much wrong with the postal service in this area. Posted yesterday morning, arrived lunch time today, at the other end of the country...
Looks great! Will be repainted, and given some signage, and put into place on my Shed End Circuit.
Many thanks Leo, very kind of you
