Mercedes W165
#1

Take one 3D resin printed 1939 Mercedes W165 (Voiturette), modify a good working chassis design and you get a super competitive little track burner.

1/32 Mercedes W165, 3D resin blend, CF-PETG chassis, ballraced rear axle, Scaley green slimline motor, PCS tyres and wheels.

This is built to CSCRA regs, 2mm ground clearance, 5mm wide front tyres 19mm dia, 7mm wide rears tyres 21.5mm dia, 50mm wide across the tyre walls.

The original 'flexy' chassis was OK but nothing special on track but the Lotus 24 chassis works like a dream but I could see improvements.

The new design

What's it go like mister?...

...before anyone says, it's a crown gear not a spur gear.

Kevan
That looks super smooth and very impressive completely built from scratch.  Well done.

Have you entered the forthcoming September classic at Rockingham where that CSCRA class is being run (along with a saloon class). Combines concours and racing so perfect for this

Thanks, it actually exceeded my expectations by a couple of tenths.

I do follow the proxies, especially the UK ones.  I get sudden urges to enter then something makes me change my mind, other things in life often spoil the enthusiasm.

If you fancy seeing how it does against a field of other entries then let me know, we could come to some arrangement!

I usually enter a cartrix Merc 154 that has won a few times, and get groaned at when it gets placed in the concours (and gets no points!)

Ah you mean the original Cartix W154

I have a resin Penelope Pitlane one with a completely different 3D chassis and a Shark 25...but it's going to be replaced with an upsized version of the one in the W165 powered with a much-kinder-on-tyres slimline.

I'll bear your offer in mind  Thumbup
