Hi all,
I'm building my next car and have this motor with 9 tooth pinion.
https://www.pendleslotracing.co.uk/scale...w9848.html
Is there a preference for Crown gear? ie how many teeth to go with 9 tooth pinion?
Cheers
Tony

I'd be starting at 26 but depends on the diameter of your drive tyres as it can drastically affect 'rollout'.

Normal default gear ratios are 3:1 so 27:9 but I always start with longer ratios as it calms a motor down. 26:10 is my preferred start point for any motor really then empirical tuning after that.

Depends on the nature of the circuit, long straights = long gearing, tight & twisty = short gearing, raise ratio if track is a slippery one.
So many variables it is impossible to give an answer

I don't change ratios between racing on the circuit and going round our permanent Rally stage. On a tight/twisty track the car's never going to reach top speed anyway so gearing down doesn't really have any benefit.

Sorry, I should of said it's for a home Sport track and a bit of fun.
I don't want it to be a donkey though.

As stated, to be similar to most other scalextric/carrera a 27 tooth would be perfect.
To match the likes of Inline slot.it cars, a 28 tooth.
It ia also worth knowing what the motor is, as braking can be effected, but generally a 27/9 is adequate and common for home use.
