I presume you mean this one:

I looked earlier today and didn't find a 3D printable file.

That's the one . Is it possible to scan a Monogram one so a copy could be made ,or is that against copyright ?

Possible, yes.
Anyone here with access to a multi $$$$ scanner?, I doubt it...if the answer is yes you'll be useful  Thumbup

I look forward to the day that people's expectations of the technology matches the reality...

except that by then, the expectations will be much higher. LOL

No... a scan of a body won't look good printed. Ideally, the body is modeled in a high quality digital modeling program to provide smooth surfaces and clean lines, which a 3D scan (other than crazy expensive machines) is not capable of.

Are there not scanning services available where you drop your body off, and next day you go and collect your vector model?

Just looking at the picture of the car, and with what I have learnt about the quality of freeshare 3d model files, I reckon all you need is a really bad GT40 file and that should do the job.

I'm sure there are services out there, but certainly not like a Jiffy Lube, local to everyone in the world. If you find one, you'll likely have to ship it off to be scanned, and then wait for the original to be returned.

Let us know what you find. ;-)

Even if you did find a scanning service, wouldn't that just give you the outside shape, with no depth or thickness to the body shell?
