Does anyone know if the rear tyres on a Carrera Porsche 935 (Moby Dick) are interchangeable with the Carrera Zakspeed Capri? Perhaps if someone has both models they could compare them for me?
The rears on my Capri have done the Carrera thing of melting into a sticky puddle of black goo; and I have the opportunity to get hold of some silicones in the Porsche 935 fitment, just wondered if they were the same...

Hi AdeC,
I have the same issue with a Carrera Porsche 917, barely used and the tyres have gone really sticky, and useless....

My first port of call for such questions is
Paul Gage Tires - he makes tyres for most of the brands with individually-sized wheels and has the sizes nicely coded.
His Moby Dick 935 tyres are: PGT-21138XLM meaning 21mm diameter, 13mm wide and an 8mm wide rib. The XLM has something to do with the rib height, I think.
The Zakspeed Capri tyres are: PGT-20138LMXD. That means they should fit, but may be lower - and may need gluing.
With Carrera cars, my second step is usually to buy the Paul Gage tyres! They improve grip significantly, are easy to true and don't do the melting thing. Gareth at
Slot Car Supplies in the UK does stock some - including the Zakspeed size - and can probably order others in if you ask him nicely.
Mike at WHO Racing (mikefi here) makes softer XPG-style urethanes and has moulds for the Carrera modern DTM and GT standard size - equivalent to the 20125LMXD.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. Looks like they are indeed a very close fit. If I'm understanding the references right, the Capri tyres are 1mm less in diameter and have a 0.5mm higher centre rib height. It's the centre rib width which I struggle with when finding replacement tyres for Carrera cars, but these seem similar enough
