OK I expect howls of derision on this request, things like why bother etc.
Does anyone have a CD for the C8310 Sport World equipment? All costs paid.
PM me if you have anything.
Regards
Baz

I have something for you. It is a copy, not an original though. If that is any good PM your address and I will stick it in the post.

It would be great if an ISO image file of this could be provided on here - other forums have failed in that. I appreciate there is a copyright issue but Scalextric/Hornby have abandoned the associated web address.

Hello Brian,
I would appreciate a copy anyway. I can make an ISO image so that people can download that and burn it to a blank CD.
If its OK with you and Jason, the image file could be hosted here in the Library.
PM on its way.

With many thanks to Brian COMTD the Sport World disks arrived today.
Loaded the programme onto the XP powered laptop for this kind (age) of programme.
Of course there was some trepidation about the Sport World hardware that I bought on Ebay working, everything worked like a dream (except redundant internet racing).
I will report back in more detail after we have had a mini championship race tomorrow evening.
Were there any comparable offerings from other manufacturers?
Regards
Baz

Not really. It was quite an advanced bit of kit for the time (2004/5) and had most of the functions of modern race control systems. The internet racing malarkey was fairly useless though and Hornby really neglected to push the main functions of the system.
It did have a lot of bugs which the updates never really sorted out and Hornby were by then putting their limited resources into Digital so it soon became an ex-parrot with the remaining stock being sold off very cheaply in 2009. Total production and sales were allegedly only 1000 units and a significant proportion were completely faulty so quite a rare beast these days.
Couple of caveats when you use it:
blue Scalextric guides won't register laps and hot motors (25,000 rpm+) will cause system overloads.
