Cars bought by members in 2021
#91

Here is another rally car. I made the 2020 limited edition livery of the Alpine A110 (street version - probably a rally livery would have faded the defaults).
It is a resin made by Damien for the 2020 French Challenge (swithed to  undefined dates).

Late night/early morning baby settling sessions have resulting in several new cars over the past few days

A McLaren P1 in bright bright yellow
Another 911, this time an Autoart 997 road version in red
A mk1 Mexico Escort in white
And a Diecast VW T6 camper to convert

I really need to stop taking the phone in with me when I’m getting him back to sleep!!

I also stripped down to clean the McLaren MP4 yesterday and was surprised to see a fully kitted out interior behind the blacked out glass albeit without a driver. Surprised they went to the effort and then black it out

Only have the auction site pics as I’m waiting for some deliveries (to the local Sainsbury’s so I can sneak them in)?

Sorry, no idea what I’ve done with the pics and I’m not sure how to delete!!

This is the T6 in semi stripped state, putting it on a PSC chassis and will be able to use the original wheel and hopefully leave the doors as they are

I also won an auction on eBay for a Scalextric pit stop and Dunlop bridge for a couple of pounds I had these as a kid and thought why not. When I got there and paid the £2 the guy asked if I wanted some more bits for a £5 so ended up with about 30 Scalextric figures, a grandstand with a few bits missing, a scrap 6 wheel March and these, just need to find a front wing for the Minardi

Some plunder from the land down under...

I fell in love with the Lancia 037 when I was 15. This is the seventh of the Ninco models I have (ahem) collected. They are fab cars on the track, so they won't be shelf queens.

And I couldn't resist the Sainz Sierra. Looking forward to seeing how it runs. Unusual for me to buy redacted tobacco-sponsored cars.

To complete the matching pair of 2004 GT3 RS's

I've officially been informed that if any further cars are ordered I will be castrated! (hope the three pre release orders come late in the year!!  Bigsmile

Mm? I thought I'd been quite restrained this year, particularly with the PC being down for five, nearly six, weeks with a catastrophic hard drive failure. However, it doesn't seem to have curtailed my spending, with four cars joining the fleet in March.

First up were a pair of Scalextric Subaru Impreza eBay purchases, both getting away from the usual iconic 'World Rally Car' Blue Mica.

This Belgacom car struck me as being 'a little different' and although a used runner, didn't need much cosmetic work to make it presentable again.

However, this mint boxed 50th Anniversary car has to be the best they've released by far, in my opinion. I did get it to enter into the Proxy Rallies but now I'm having second thoughts. It's too nice.  Thumbup (I'd have preferred a more conventional RWD chassis though.)

Next on the hit list were a couple of NSR cars - love this manufacturer - both from the same seller not a million miles from me in Derbyshire.

Again, a rather different and striking paint scheme on this that seems to flow with and compliment the body lines, rather than having been imposed on it without due regard. True to the sellers word it shows little, if any, sign of use. Lovely.  Cool

That purchase gave me the confidence to go with his custom NSR F1 'Williams'. Superbly executed on a white test car, he didn't rely on the self-coloured plastic of the body. It's been sprayed then detailed beautifully. I'm not a great fan of F1 but it being NSR-based swayed me - and my Jagermeister car deserved a companion. Only snag is, this custom makes the factory finished NSR look very, very plain  Bigsmile

Umm? PC-less April didn't slow things down. Well it did a bit, process-wise, as the iPad is horrible to use. However ....

Another couple of eBay purchases started the month off.

First was this classic Audi. The belt driven four wheel drive had to go though. The belt was so tight it was pulling one wheel into the back of the arch, the other moving in the opposite direction to almost rub the FRONT of the arch! I've kept the belt in the pit box but it does look and sound a lot better without it. The body just needed a light wipe with a damp cloth and I've still to space the front axle correctly - but I like it's simplicity.

It was joined in short order by another Subaru, in the WRC Blue Mica this time but with a distinctive black and yellow chequered finish to the rear. I need to source a couple of mirrors but there are so many different types for the Subaru range!

Next up were a couple of more quirky vehicles.

This Ninco kart failed to sell first time round and was open to offers when relisted on eBay. A quick message saw an offer accepted that reduced it by the cost of the postage, making it one of the cheapest on the Bay. Another item that looks barely used and came complete with box. I can't understand why it didn't sell when first posted. They're great fun to race, particularly with the steering front end being visible.  Thumbup

The SCX Touerag came from this forum's For Sale section. Advertised needing the front gear set-up adjusting, it turned out to be a bit more complex than that. The double-ended motor is set above the axles and the drive is carried down to them by 'slave' gears running freely on fixed shafts inserted into housings in the chassis. The front shaft had been inserted too far into the chassis, leaving no 'nub' protruding to centre the crown wheel. It was pretty fiddly to say the least and necessitated a complete chassis dismantle. I have to admit the air turned blue, until I finally got it sorted  [Image: wrench.gif] Still, that's part of the fun  [Image: thumbup.gif]

Talking of blue. Back to something more simple. Another Scalextric Subaru. This one came with a broken rear spoiler but fortunately there had ben no attempt to fix it. The locating pins were drilled out from underneath. Again, just got to source the correct spoiler - but there are so many!

The month was rounded out by this little MSC 6R4. Another ebay sale seemingly ignored by others, the seller was open to offers and I picked it up, including postage, for less than Pendle's had been selling them off for + postage! Another mint, boxed bargain and another maker I like. Daft I know but I now have four of the 6R4's and two RS2000's. Great cars to drive and fiddle-faff with.
