Emergency and Support Services vehicles

Emergency cars bought over the last year. Firstly the MRE special edition Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Not sure whether this was ever a police car but it's a nice conversion and looks convincing, just a shame the roof light is a DIY addition. I can say with some confidence based on my track record of intention vs completion that mine will never make it out of the bag and onto the roof.

Another Chevrolet, this time a Camaro Pace Car by Carrera. Photos don't do the colours justice, it's a beautiful paint job on what to my eye is a very unattractive and ill proportioned car.

It looks massive though. Are these new retro versions of US classics really that much bigger than their older namesakes? I do wonder if these are huge in real life or whether Carrera have exagerated the wheel size and height of them. Look at it next to an old Scalextric Camaro, the wheels are massive!

Yet more Carrera Lamborghini emergency cars, these are both Huracans, one is a police and the other a safety car:
The White one in particular looks absolutely gorgeous in real life.

That's enough supercar police and emergency vehicles now thanks slot car manufacturers. A bit more bread and butter please.

I'll make an exception for this though as it looks amazing. A Scalextric police McLaren 720s. Really nice.

And finally one of my favourite police releases for a long time, the Scalextric Capri. It just looks fab... those wheels, and the twin rear exhausts. I'm not a massive Capri fan but there's just something about this one that looks great.

And Scalextric released this just in time too, because being the mid 80's there's been a spate of hot hatch thefts and joyriding around my track lately, especially at night.
And look at this idiot in the stolen MG Maestro, that's not a standard motor is it? Bet he's not declared that on his insurance Just as well the rozzers are on the scene!

I am so very tempted by the Avant Slot / Maralic Lancia support vehicle, but this might be a more appropriate project for me and my budget...

Once upon a time ...
I was following the 1968 London-Sydney Marathon and there was a Vauxhall Ventora competing. As my folks were Vauxhall buyers, I was a fan of Ventoras and had an Airfix Vauxhall Victor estate car. I got a second estate car and modified it to be a saloon, so that I had a Ventora rally car and suitable service barge (running on Revell chassis).
These are long lost but a while ago, I purchased replacements from Pendle Sot Racing. Sadly no progress has been made since.
The saloon has obviously morphed from the Airfix estate car in the same way that I did back in the day.

My little contribution with toys, from a WD shop, grafted onto slot.it HRS chassis. Rear rims have been made by Brifou and I painted them. Rear tyres have been made with Silicone.

Martin is never alone ;-)
