So I am enjoying the WHO Rally Sprint series currently moving round the Sussex countryside, and it looks like Proxy events like these are going to be around for a while. And it seems like the Group C class cars are the ones challenging for the overall win, so if you can't beat them, join them...
SRC seem to take their rally slot cars very seriously, and they seem to be well regarded in the hobby, and their cars do seem to do well. So I have been watching one gathering dust on the shelf of a well known used car site for a few months, at a price that was less than half the cost of a new one, and which eventually I couldn't ignore...and it's the Chrono 'lightweight' version, a bit like the 550bhp Pikes Peak original...
...and very pleased to find that it was a brand new example in it's sealed box.
I finally relented and got a couple ot the Pioneer Legends cars from the PPDD (Pioneer Paint Defect Department ).
I have literally gone over these with a magnifying glass and cant spot anything wrong !
I do have a bugbear about one aspect of the cars, but I intend to fix that. it will involve a bit of work and no-one but me will likely notice the changes
And the Sideways Celica Grp5 arrived and will be paired with my stock painted Skyline and both tweaked for my home track.

Imagine a modern Mustang given a group 5 style makeover.
Well the Austrian designers at Carrera did.
I liked the brutal look of these since I first saw them, but not the wheel design.
A free post offer and £33.95 each was too much for my willpower too resist. Typhoon Slots !
And the wheels? Well there is a fix for that ;)
The stock wheels are huge at over 21mm without tyres, so my "little" 19mm replacements will have to make the rest up with tyre sidewall.
Mr Dremel will be required to ease the fitment
And the last ones for a bit (or so I told the good lady !)
Carrera Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird.
But The wheels (rims) are too large (scale 17.5 inches should be 15 inches) and they sit too high with a rake they shouldn't have for NASCAR trim.
Needless to say I will be tinkering, added to the list of to do's
Err? And another! This was a Facebook Marketplace find, along with a second rather battered but repairable Shadow Mk11 test car to run. (The one shown above is the Shelf Queen.)

It was the Beemer I was after for the Saloon class - but it seemed a shame to leave the Capri languishing. Both came from the For Sale section of this Forum, as did the photos.
Another couple of Beemers from this forum's For Sale section. Race-prepped in so far as rear tyres were trued and glued and one had varnished fronts - but I replaced all the tyres. The varnished fronts were just too noisy and the rears had very little grip on the Sport track I run them on.
In addition both had strong taillights but seemed to have DRL's at the front. I made the mistake of dismantling one to see why and found the front lighted PCB angled downwards. What a pig to try and get it in the right place behind the lights! It took many attempts but each time I installed the PCB in the mounts in the chassis, as soon as I tried to insert the chassis into the body the board fell out. Even glue didn't help. Eventually I figured out that the extra long lead allowed the bar to be mounted into the body first, THEN the chassis was inserted! The 'Xenon lights' really do look good now - and it only took a few minutes to correct the second one.
Again, the photos are from the For Sale section. Why re-invent the wheel?
P.S. Are the yellow wheels original? So far I've not found any other 125's with them.
