The end is nigh
#21

My total rejection of all things slot seems to have suffered a blow.

I hadn't realised just how often I would pop into the track room just for a few laps. Nothing to do with competition, just the fun of the cars going round.

We allowed ourselves a day off today so, as I had so conveniently ordered an extra sheet of ply.........

Quick mark up in pencil then rout and a couple of coats of paint. Not sure when I will finish it as the bathroom needs attention and I may have to instal a new one before anything else. Only an 8 x 4 but better than nothing and it will keep my thumb in!

Test track if nothing else but extending it with some extra long straights would be straightforward enough should I decide to keep it.

Back to work tomorrow Steadman.

You are close to being back in business. Is this a permanent move? I have just made what we say is our last move. So I can now plan a permanent track :)

I'm 74 so I reckon this will be our last. We have yet to decide where a permanent track will be put. There are several choices as we have as much storage space as living space and there are big lofts over the whole house and the garage/workshop block.

This little track will do until I get my slotting mojo back properly!

To a degree Jason. This will let me play occasionally but I won't be doing anything serious for a while.

Thanks. It's always difficult to get a good design into an 8 x 4 (sorry continont....2500mm x 1220mm)

I don't like twiddly so I reckon this is a free flowing as it's going to get.

Just two questions...

How did you fill the gap in the track where it passes under the flyover?

How thick was the ply?

I love puttering with gears
