I just wanted to say that you're allowed to mention the "other forum" by name. After all Slot Forum is full of slot car fans, just like us.

We're not enemies, quite the opposite.

Thanks Ken. We set this site up to be as clean as we could possibly make it. That has always meant no ads, no trackers, no invasive cookies, no third party vendors and the like.

Those principles might seem a bit old fashioned nowadays, when every other site is harvesting and selling your data, but personally, I still think the internet can be a place to help people, rather than exploit them.

I used to visit that forum but was unable to 'join' and could only lurk. I only have phone for this. No ISP and no home computer. Therefore I prefer this site by default! I have had great interactions with the great folks here!

I CAN access the other forum from my tablet without issue, at least for now, so not lost it entirely. Still nothing from my W7 PC though.

At first it was only SlotForum. Arup made reference to RCGroups. So I tried to check something on RCGroups, and got the dreaded "http error 406" again.

What's going on?

I found an iT tech query site that suggested clearing out the cache would solve it. It didn't

Seems more likely the issue is at the transmitting server end rather than the receiving customers end according to other 'iT solutions' sites I've found - and is not easy to resolve as so many things can cause it. Something must have changed at their end recently though.

Maybe their AI helper has developed more power than they expected. It probably gets bored having to deal with humans and their limited intelligence.
