Motor Racing books...
#11

I've read a couple more since.

First up, one that was recommended by a regular on SF

As an autobiography I found it got disrupted by having the author keep interjecting.  It's another interesting read, not your typical millionaire family heir racing for something to do as you normally find, not Tommy Byrne, he had nowt and never really had anything through his career, maybe that's why he 'didn't fit in'.
Lot's of scary stuff in his early life with the troubles in N.Ireland and blagged his way into lots of situations.
I didn't enjoy this book as much as I'd hoped but glad I read it.

Niki Lauda 'to Hell and Back'

Yes we all know about the horrendous crash that nearly killed Niki...but there's a lot more to discover about him besides his F1 career, definitely a recommended read this one.

I thought this was going to be all nerdy but it's far from that, a fabulous look behind the scenes and annoying the ****! out of Ron Dennis (which also crops up in my current read which I'll mention in a week or two)

I loved this book and learned a lot about Adrian Newey and have a much greater respect for him with the info gleamed from this book.

...recommended

This was a great read also, if you made it up nobody would believe you but it happened by some miracle or other.

Selling Honda F1 for £1...

...then going through everything to win it all, a great story, only it isn't a story, it's all true... honest  Thumbup

Fascinating stuff from the 30's.

I love the dedication Sun

That book does keep popping up in my amazon book searching.

I'd recently considered getting a Kindle because the 'books' are cheaper but now I'n not so sure.

Books I buy are 'used' from the book sellers on amazon, nearly all come unread or ex-library books that have never been stamped.

Mine is the 1934 edition and sure enough, the inside cover is stamped:
"Presented to the Port Library, HM Dockyard, Portsmouth by SM Whibley, Esq."

Boot sale sellers are not that fussy.

I just use the Kindle app on the Mac or Calibre. There are so many free books out there. Kindle books are usually reasonable, anything from 98 centimes to 5 or 6 euros. This one is 3,35 euros. Late edition obviously.

I never thought about free e-books, is there a website where there's a good choice?

Loads.

Best for old classics is Gutenberg

The foist!

Just put free ebooks in your browser.

Just been looking at some of the other sites. Free means you can read it but not keep it! To buy to keep, Foundation by Asimov is more expensive to get the digital version that a good condition second hand paperback.

Gutenberg and Kindle are the only ones I have ever used.
