Micro Scalextric 2019 Nostalgia Qualifying Results

Congrats to Iain on the first Micro 2019 TQ...

It's pretty close - less than two hundredths of a second between first and last! The Micro 2019 Nostalgia race will be the final action on the strip, sometime Sunday afternoon / early evening.

Wow, Clive pulled a rabbit out of the hat with that second Street Stock run...but might have paid the price in the following one! Jane's car just keeps knocking out the consistent times, and I like it when my car gets faster with each run. The engine is a bit of an unknown, but I would like to think it was running itself into some form.

I love puttering with gears

The first action of today was Nostalgia T-Jet Qualifying...

Congrats to Iain for snatching TQ away from Bill on the final run!

That gives racing for three classes today - Nostalgia T-Jet, Micro Scalextric Super Stock 6.0 and Street Stock. They will during the afternoon and early evening, starting around 3pm.

Congrats to Iain for his repainted '32 Ford - those are truly fabulous flames!

And to Bill...

Rebecca decided the Corvette was most definitely her favourite car of the Winter Series  Thumbup
That’s got to be the nicest rendition of that 32 Ford body that I’ve ever seen!  Great job on the flames.

Thank you Rebecca!  Best in series is quite an honor. There were so many fantastic cars in these events.

It’s great to see the flame stencils being put to such good use.  I’m pleased that you are enjoying them!

Nostalgia T-Jet Eliminators - Round 1

With eleven cars on the ladder, top qualifier Iain had a bye in round one. He set a time of 0.726 seconds on a solo run.

The first race was between two non-mag T-Jets that both had huge amounts of wheelspin off the line...

Noah in the black Willys Coupe got marginally the better start and led down the first half of the strip, Doug's green Ford mostly sideways. Eventually, Doug got it hooked up and was through the line 0.087 seconds quicker - seventh qualifier beat sixth to meet Iain in round two.

No such excitement in the second race - Clive comfortably beating Al by 0.441 seconds, his ET 0.784.

It was another easy run in race three, this time for Alan. His Anglia Gasser beat David's Impala by 0.435. Alan clocked 0.808.

Second qualifier Bill had a smooth run - a best of the first round 0.724 and a 0.438 second win over Dylan's stars & stripes Chevy.

Finally, Rebecca beat Andy by 0.146 seconds - her ET 0.826.

I have to confess that the colours of the flames were the result of lucky paint interaction rather than skill. Probably impossible to repeat - two types of paint and four colours, all of which were applied too quickly. Incredibly, the car now goes faster too! Unlike my Micro Scalextric entries, which went slower after fitting a new motor and gears. Tappingfoot

Round 2 + Semi

Doug was - again - rather too sideways at the start of the run... lots of horsepower, but not enough traction. That allowed Iain a decent advantage and a 0.400 second win. The winning ET was 0.728.

Another pairing of a fast AW magnet car with a wild non-mag chassis. Clive got away, as expected, but Alan's Anglia was closing the gap... Clive crossed the finish line first, by 0.045. The ETs 0.784 to 0.798. Clive would meet Iain in the semi.

Bill met Rebecca for a place in the final... and the second qualifier cruised to a 0.117 second win, the Torino clocking 0.695. Bill decided to keep his powder dry and sat out his bye round.

Semi-Final

These two super-smooth T-Jets both had their quickest runs of the eliminators. Iain was always just ahead and got to the line 0.044 before Clive. His winning ET was 0.705 to Clive's 0.747. Will we be seeing the once-dominant T-bolt upgraded or replaced for the new season?

After a break, we'll be back with the top two qualifiers facing off in the final.
