As per PM, all done here but I was surprised at the number I was subscribed to, as I can't recall taking any action to do so for any threads.
Was it maybe set as a default by accident, either by me or during the site set-up, or maybe too easy to sleep walk into?
However, no worries as I see you're doing away with it anyway

Thanks everybody.
Yes, the default subscription method was set to email, that's just how the software comes, and there is no easy way to change it.
However, I've now removed the email option for subscription in the reply box, and set the default to Do not Subscribe. In the next few days I'll try to track down any other instances of it, and once we've all got rid of our old subscriptions, we should be all sorted.

A very important reminder for every person using emails to constantly check their Spam/Junk Folders.... I have noticed an increased spike of legit emails ending up in Spam and false emails (such as Bitcoin $$$ Maker) ending up in my Inboxes.
This goes across Gmail, Yahoo (.com and .com.au) ProtonMail so some critter has entered Canberra recently, regardless we the users must immediately get ourselves organised with better personal and business computer literacy skills, even intermediate skills are lacking, all of which should be mandatory, oh well.
Off to delete all my subscriptions, regrettably - also Marked All Forums as Read and deleted all Subscriptions Done Feb 1

Yo Jason,
Are you still intending to allow subscription by choice (opt-in)? I like being prompted by email that a topic I am interested in has responses.
I see the option is there but have been reluctant to try it in case it upsets anything you are doing behind the scenes.
( O Subscribe and receive PM notification of new replies)

Sorry Leo, but I think the email notifications will have to be switched off in the near future.
This is the second time we've had our emails switched off completely, so we're in danger of being permanently blacklisted. It seems to be the email notifications that are getting some systems' knickers in a twist, and it's preventing us from having a proper registration process, so we don't have much choice I'm afraid.

Have things improved for this yet, or are we still to not subscribe ?
It would be nice to have that functionality back :)

Sorry, but the risk of us being permanently blacklisted is too big for us to ignore. Unfortunately, I think it probably has to stay off permanently.

Hi Jason,
All done, but interestingly I appeared not to be subscribed to anything anyway!
Keep up the excellent work
