Our race on Wednesday will be going ahead as scheduled.
There is a lot of understandable anxiety about the Covid-19 coronavirus at the moment and a lot of conflicting coverage with major sporting events being cancelled by their organisers. Rest assured, we have carefully considered the current Public Health England advice and talked to the team that run the Barn. We are safe to continue with our small gatherings, as long as we get used to following some basic precautions...
Our aim is for the club to continue to meet until any point when we're specifically told not to. What the club and the Barn will do is make sure that hand washing facilities – including hand sanitizer gel, if possible – are available and signposted. We will also disinfect surfaces – including club equipment – as we set up and clear away.
We ask all club members that you take personal responsibility and follow the NHS guidelines as they are now – and if they change. The guidelines are here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
If you decide that you need to stay away from the club and limit other social contact, we completely understand. Some of us – and people we live with – are more vulnerable to the effects and complications of the virus than the general population. We have added an extra ‘dropped score’ to the main club championship this year and may consider running some rounds as non-championship races.
