It was a cracking evening of Scalextric digital racing at the Barn last night. With twenty-six on the grid, it wasn't the biggest Digital Wednesday attendance we've seen (two 30s and a 28 eclipse it) - but the Trans-Am pairs race line-up of thirteen cars was a WHO/digital record.
Mike's track design went down very well with everyone...
And it gave us some incredibly close Nascar club car racing...
There was a special appearance for Mike's lovely Pontiac Grand Prix fleet. One the whole, the teams - including plenty of rookies - treated them very well. However, this was the end-of-race pile-up that decided second place overall. The yellow M&Ms Pontiac beating the Orange Home Depot car to the line and this happening at turn one...
Ahead of both (by one lap) after an hour of racing was the winning team of Daniel, Peter, Jean and Rob.
Somehow we managed to squeeze three 10-minute qualifying heats, a five-minute consolation race and a 10-minute Trans-Am feature race into the final 75-minutes of the evening. It wasn't just the biggest Trans-Am field we'd seen at the Barn, it looked good too...
It was Ed and Jean's Chaparral Camaro that took pole position for the feature race. However, a disastrous pit stop sequence dropped them back in the race, leaving the Camaro of Mike and Graham to battle Round One winners Oliver and Ryan...
It was an incredibly close race, but the brothers grabbed their second Trans-Am win of the year...
