Scalextric Winter 2019-20 releases
#8

You do have to wonder about the financial sanity of Hornby sometimes. Limited edition (2500) of Lotus 25, a sought after car with hardly any scope for repaints, which means total sales at RRP equals approx £115,000. Take into account their retailers' discounts and it shrinks even further. Even if they achieved a very unlikely gross profit margin of 50% they still wouldn't make enough to cover the initial cost of production. The moulds themselves would cost at least £50,000. Why publish a production quantity in the first place? If they are, in fact, 'selling like hot cakes' a non limited edition could have production increased whenever they wanted.
