Well these were quick tonight weren’t they! 6.2’s for six of us and even sneaking into the 6.1’s for one… with a set of club cars that have never had treatment on the (10mm wide) tyres!
To put that into perspective, that’s quicker than six of the eight Sport cars that raced in the next event!
.
So yes we had some great close racing with these, deslots meant dropped overall places.

• Andy’s MRRC Cooper Monaco (King Cobra) in Open Small Sport fancied doing some giant killing tonight
  
• Kev’s Ninco BMW V12 LM98 in Modified Sport
  
• Brian H’s Revoslot Toyota GT1 in Open Sport
  
• Geoff (NSR Corvette C6R), Mike (NSR Mosler) and Paul (Racer Porsche 935) were all pipped to the post in Prostock Sport by Brian L’s NSR Mosler

…jeopardy was back this week with a few mates!

Before getting into it, Geoff & Kev had fitted NSR red tyres for two reasons, 1) they don’t ball-up and 2) they’re much harder to damage.
.
Was it Friday the 13th tonight or something?

• Paul (Red lane) had problems just after the start, it looked like the front edge of his sidecar was hitting the track join.  After a long delay including looking at Paul's Sidecar, he decided to withdraw from the racing.  We restarted the heat…
  
• 14 minutes in, with Ed now using Red lane and noticing a problem in the same place Paul had problems… hang on... there's something in the slot!  It was a screw from Paul's Sidecar jammed in the bottom of the slot.
  
• Restart the heat… now a computer problem! The timing program just wouldn’t start, it kept tripping out as soon as the space bar was hit.  We checked there's nothing in the slot or anything shorting the timer dead strip.  Checked the dead strip wiring underneath.  Unplug all controllers, Restart the timer program.  Plug in controllers one at a time and try starting a race.  Don't know what the problem was but it had gone so we started again!
  
• ...the problems weren't yet over!
  
• …a little interlude as Geoff & Kev remove the NSR red tyres, they both found these tyres quickly lose grip as they pull some of the rubber off the track like silicone tyres do!
  
• 25 minutes after starting the Sidecar races, we managed to get started properly… that is once everyone had covered the screws with tape or small lane stickers on the bottom of the chassis.
  
• …taping over screws has been a requirement in the rules for years and will be a requirement going forward for all vehicles as we’ve been seeing a few ‘screws in slots’ this year

Brian L has quietly gained more confidence in his Sidecar and this week sneaked into second place on the podium.

Geoff was down the pecking order due to his first heat on red tyres which probably cost him a couple of laps.  He said we needed to know if those tyres would work…

Brian H is still finding the level at which the tyre performance levels off… the second best overall score in Yellow lane though!
.
Kev’s ‘psychedelic serpent’ Sidecar was raced with a new chassis and had a best run in Yellow lane.
.
Ed’s Sidecar was deslotting coming out of corners, it was noticed that he boots the power in really hard which lifts the front and kicks the rear, he was advised to turn ‘acceleration’ right down to ‘low’ on his controller to smooth it out… it was noticeably smoother when he did.
