Jeffery R. Race Event at Shenanigans Raceway
We kick of this monthly racing event organised by Jeffery R. While the grid was looking a little thin for the inaugural event this week with a fair few regular faces failing to turn up, the five dedicated racers who made the line-up ensured the competitive fire was burning as bright as ever. It turned out to be an absolute cracker of a night, fueled heavily by an excellent spread of pizza, drinks, coffee, and cake to keep the energy high in the pits.
Across five distinct classes, the racing was fast, furious, and occasionally full of "shenanigans." Here is how the night unfolded.
1. Trans-Am
The night kicked off with the classic Trans-Am class. Johnno laid down a marker early, utterly dominating the field with a total of 68 laps and the fastest lap of the session at 9.581 seconds. Jeffery managed to secure a comfortable second place, fending off Joe by just a single lap. Pete and Jim rounded out the pack, trying to find their rhythm early on the tricky circuit.

2. Revo
The Revo class saw the speeds pick up significantly. Johnno broke into the 8-second bracket, capturing another top spot with 74 laps. However, the battle for the remaining podium spots tightened up beautifully. Joe found his groove to take second with 62 laps, while Pete drove a remarkably steady race to lock down third with 58 laps, just pipping Jeffery (56 laps) and Jim (53 laps).

3. Slot.it LMP
The Le Mans Prototypes brought pure slot-car sophistication to the track. Johnno continued his masterclass, racking up a whopping 77 laps and keeping his average lap under the 10-second mark. Joe put on a stellar performance to comfortably claim second place with 67 laps. Meanwhile, the midfield was a frantic drag race; Jeffery took third with 62 laps, but Pete was breathing right down his neck with 58 laps and an incredibly competitive best lap of 9.717 seconds. Jim brought up the rear but showed great consistency with 55 laps.

4. Sideways
If anyone thought the drivers would tire out by round four, the Sideways class proved otherwise, yielding the highest lap counts of the evening. Johnno set a blisteringly quick pace, setting a new current race best lap of 7.985 seconds on his way to an incredible 82-lap total. Joe kept the pressure on for a strong second-place finish (71 laps). Pete broke into the 9-second best lap club to secure third place with 69 laps, while Jeffery (63 laps) and Jim (57 laps) enjoyed a fun, close-fought battle at the back.

5. Host 1-24 BRM Mini Coopers Fuel
The final event of the night featured the larger 1:24 BRM Mini Coopers with a fuel management twist, forcing drivers to balance raw speed with tactical awareness. While Johnno managed to sweep the evening with a final win (72 laps), the absolute highlight of the heat belonged to Jeffery.
Jeffery drove the wheels off the Mini Coopers, setting the absolute fastest lap of the class at a rapid 8.722 seconds, which earned him a well-deserved second place overall with 67 laps. Joe (65 laps) and Pete (64 laps) finished mere inches apart in a spectacular fight for the podium, while Jim closed out a resilient night of racing with 56 laps.

The Verdict: A massive shoutout to Jeffery for organising the event and racers.
Thanks Johnno for hosting the evening and for a clean sweep across all five classes, and to Jeffery for snatching that brilliant fastest lap record in the Minis! Despite the lower numbers, it was a fantastic, relaxed evening of high-quality slot racing, great banter, and even better food.
Thanks to everyone who made it and looking forward to the next event on Thursday 27th August.
