It was a cracking day - very enjoyable! And six quality stages.
I've posted a report of our WHO trip here. It was great to get five of us up from the South Coast. And Mike D did brilliantly with second places in Modern and Classic. I am very much looking forward to studying the results when they are published (hopefully Tuesday).
I was mostly happy with my four cars. I had a couple of unexpected issues with the Subaru - and tantalisingly finished fourth in Modern. The Ninco Porsche was a lot of fun, but up against the SRC Porsches, does need more work to get it higher than tenth. But the work I did for yesterday meant a big step-up from Farnborough last year.
I was absolutely delighted with the Avant Slot Galant. It still has room for improvement, but fifth in the Eighties/Nineties class was a real surprise. That 80-second run on Nobby's Nightmare was peak adrenaline of the day and my most memorable moment.
I think it will be the final Slot Rally GB outing for the SCX Swift (and probably my other SCX cars). Dropping the SCX and Scalextric classes from the series means a big mismatch in power and handling between the SCX cars and the others - and that didn't help me learn the stage and build up the speed. What to replace it? I do have a few options. The other three cars stay for Farnborough in June.
