Race results and report - 21st November 2024 - Club Ford GT40 followed by Small Sports/Saloons
.
Another great turnout tonight, even with the sudden icy/snowy spell plus the ‘lurgy’ infecting folk, we still had eight racers attend.
.
Club GT40
.
Some close racing (and racing ‘incidents’ ) as expected with the top three drivers finishing on the same lap.
The rest of the drivers except Matthew who’s only been racing a couple of weeks, finished a small number of laps apart…
…and Brian L winning with club cars for the first time!
.
Small Sports/Saloons
.
Three different classes, one big smash, one car-swap and a ruddy great Dodge Viper on skinny tyres (which goes rather well actually).
.
A really good mix of cars and a good spread of racing, the return of Paul’s Ferrari 365P2, the demise of Geoff’s XK120 Jag in a race stopping multi car smash which broke the steel chassis on the Jag!, heat wins for Matthew plus the ‘50p Trophy’ presented to him at the end of the evening for outstanding performance on the evening.
.
Chris’s yellow Alpine was a bit wayward tonight for some reason, it actually looked like it had too much grip but still managed the odd really fast lap and was one of four cars to get into the 6+ second hot laps along with Andy’s AC Cobra, Kev’s Chaparral and Brian L’s Ferrari 365P2.
.
The upside of Geoff’s early disaster was he won Standard Class with his trusty Ninco XK120 usually seen in Slot Rally.
.
Paul seemed to enjoy bringing the Ferrari 365P2 out of retirement, since his return it’s noticeable that his cars are nice smooth runners and not too wayward like some cars we see on track.
.
The Club Christmas Dinner draws closer, please ensure you get your menu choices (and payment) to Andy.
Whilst on the subject of Christmas, December is just around the corner and Christmas jumpers are traditionally mandatory for those four weeks so get them out of the drawer and let them air for a week.

Next week is F1 & Classic F1 followed by Group 5.
