Race results and report - 24th October 2024 - Sports followed by TV/Film Cars
.
Another great turnout tonight…and the return of Gav as he slowly recovers from treatment to make nine drivers for the Sports Cars racing whilst Gav declined to race in the TV/Film Car races.
.
Sports Cars
.
What a great mix of cars we saw tonight, two Moslers, two Revoslots, no less than four LMP’s and the return of Paul’s GT4 Maserati that managed a couple of heat wins.
.
Gav vs Paul vs Ed in both classes tonight generated the closest racing of the night, three well matched drivers.
.
No super fast lap times tonight as Kev opted to race his ‘B2B’ SCX Audi and Andy raced a proxy LMP…this meant it was going to be close with the two NSR Moslers expected to lead the racing…it was close…very close indeed!
.
Chris’s Mack chassied SCX Dome Judd went really well tonight, very competitive against the quicker cars.
.
Brian H borrowed Geoff’s Revo Toyota and it’s a quick car but you have to make allowances for the way they handle as he found out a few times.
The other Revoslot was Ed’s brand new Porsche that won it’s second race.
.
Gav’s NSR Audi R18 looked like it had a magnet but a check found it was perfectly OK but it handles really well. A couple of 2nd places the end result for Gav’s return to racing.
.
The two NSR Moslers that were expected to lead the charge didn’t have it all their own way with Geoff winning two of his heats and Brian L winning one heat and winning overall by a mere 0.003 of a lap at the end. Brian won Standard Class and Geoff was less than two laps behind him.
.
TV/Film Cars
.
As this is a 'Back to Basics' class of racing and supposed to be fun with no racing specials, bonuses are given to standard cars with standard body, chassis, full interior and windows, motor, gears, lights and race bonuses are given depending on the cars fastest lap in each heat.
- Free choice of tyres, guide and ballast.
- Racing specials can't win as the idea is to encourage standard cars.
.
Seven Scalextric and two Pioneer cars made up the grid, a pair of Blues Brothers ‘Bluesmobiles’ whilst the rest of the cars were all different.
.
These are the slowest cars we race but some of the most fun. This was the final round of this year's series and will be looked forward to next year.
