Here’s the 100% truly compatible 100% plug and play Nitrous decoder by Scorpius Industries Pty Ltd.

All you need is some Blu-tack.
Chip can be used on Carrera native, Scorpius or Nitrous systems.
Now choose a basic 6 car system, an advanced 6 car Nitrous system or advanced 24 car Scorpius system. 

Carrera chip size 470 sq.mm
Nitrous chip size 292.6 sq.mm
Nitrous decoder is 38% smaller.

The chip will have the 100uF electrolytic cap on a fly lead for installation flexibility on the next prototype.
The last pic shows the PCB mounted IR LED for Carrera lane changing and lapcounting.

In Nitrous mode (Scorpius controller and Scorpius-Carrera dongle required) you will get 256 step throttle and brake resolution, hall sensor, OLED screen and accelerometer functions, full light control ala 1:1, telemetry and a heap of other functions.
