Race reports - 25th July 2024 - Small Sports/Saloons followed by NSR Mosler 'Club Challenge' #6
.
Small Sports/Saloons
.
Another class to test your cars at 12V, controller settings need tweaking for this lower track voltage.
.
First up, Ed vs Brian.
Ed racing a MRRC Porsche 904 GTS which Steve would definitely have approved of, a 16k slimline Pendle motor, a change of tyres and 'some' ballast...up against Brian's Mack chassied Ferrari 365P2.
.
Ed's Porsche isn't quite ready to send off to the proxy just yet.
Brian's confidence with his favourite car in this class has been destroyed this year, a swap to a calmer Shark 22 motor will help, 12V will probably help even more. A quick checkover and tyre treat by Andy then a test drive showed the car could do a 6.7 sec lap.
After a wire came off the motor due to it being too short and eventually being pulled off by the guide (you can't beat proper preparation)...it was flying again!
.
The other two cars, Andy's Mercedes 300SLR and Kev's Big Healey weren't far apart until the inevitable deslots.
This pair of cars don't seem to have slowed by the low track voltage but they're much easier to race hard.
.
NSR Mosler 'Club Challenge' #6
.
With all but one of the Championship challengers away tonight it was Ed's big opportunity to get full points and make up for one of the rounds he's missed. A best run in Yellow lane and a quick hot lap time of 6.4 seconds plus a heat win over Brian (Red lane).
.
The other three racers tonight are in the 'Unofficial Non-Championship'...Brian had a 'mare last time out and did say after the racing was over that he forgot to take it easy in Red lane and get a banker in, eventually finishing a few laps behind the two guys ahead. A best run in Blue lane, a hot lap of 6.1 seconds plus a heat win over Andy (Red lane).
.
Kev's three quick clean runs was just too much for Andy to match, two deslots in Red lane didn't help. A best run in Blue lane, a hot lap of 5.9 seconds and a heat win over Kev (Red lane).
Kev's best run was also in Blue lane, a hot lap of 5.84 seconds plus heat wins in Yellow and Blue lanes over Brian & Ed.
