Brian, before you go removing the gears, just spin the front wheels. That was the noise on mine, unbelievably.

Mine was waiting at home last Thursday when I got in, so I had time to remove it from the case and add to my car case to take to the club. It was leaning over in the case which looked odd.

At the club, onto the track and what a noise! I immediately thought that the angle the car was sitting at in the case had dislodged the rear axle and the gears were not meshing. Our club tuning master was trying something out on the track and said that it sounded like the front axle needed lubrication. It seemed to be the sort of noise that was much worse than something so simple could produce. But, sure enough, I took the car off the track and spun the front wheels and the noise was from the front axle.

Body off, and a bit of teflon lube in the front axle holder and the noise was gone and the car was smooth running.

Great job by Scalextric - I've been banging on for years on the various forums that the Jaaaaag needed doing, so I am very pleased that we have finally got one.
