And thank you for your "dim" question. I am just now dipping my toe into the digital water, having picked up a used digital setup this weekend. While working at getting lane changes right, I did wonder why my pit stops weren't being registered. I just had a quick race at lunch and yep, works as expected.

Why would we get a lap after taking a pit stop?  Seems odd to me.

Found the answer to my own question in the online manual for Magic ARC: 

Add lap on pit stop If activated, it automatically adds a lap at the end of each pit stop request. This option should be activated only for those who are using tracks in which the pit lane is parallel to the powerbase, therefore passing in the pit lane, one would not pass over the powerbase for detecting the end of the lap.
