A quick update after test number 1 of the cut'n'shut Sunoco Camaro.
Tested on painted scaley sport track (londonslotcarclub.com)
Urethane tyres
King purple motor
10-26 ratio
Nsr race braid.
The car performed well.
No unexpcted behaviour at all.
My main worry was that the car would straight line Deslot or Brake Deslot due to imperfect alignment of the skeleton and motor pod in the chassis.
I should not have worried. The straight line behaviour of the car was perfect.
The car entered the corners well and exited just as well.
So....
Enter "the power"
Due to an anomaly in the LSC rules, class C cars (such as trans am) are allowed to use high power inline motors.
An NSR king 30 awaits. The motor will be pulled from a scaley Sierra PCR car that was never able to contain or control the output of a king 30.
Next entry will be initial testing after the king 30 is installed.
It's possible that this car could outperform a GT class car (class B motors, 25k maximum) at least in a straight line.
3rd entry will be a race report from the trans-am club night in July
So far so good.
So I might yet do another of these cut'n' shuts if I find a suitable car and livery that can be chopped.
Did someone say that Swindon Swap Meet is this weekend?
