Static modellers sometimes call it "kit bashing".
Before I built my first scratch built car. I tried reviving an old Eldon body of a Mustang GT-350 using a Hornsby chassis from a Mercedes.
A similar unmodified chassis on the left. The trimmed version on the right.
I was able to lower the body a bit.
In the end the car ran like a turd of hurdles. The wheelbase was slightly off and that drove me nuts. It all quickly came apart and the parts got shelved. The chassis went into the garbage without delay.
Unlike my Mustang disaster. Your Camaro turned out great!
