Having just re read the excellent post by Woodcote, a couple of things that I had missed came to mind.....
1. The Jaguar XJS.
No listing for a further model to be released this year. Does that mean that after only 2 UK releases that is it?
The Police version appears to have sold well, as all Police editions do. And yes, the black Motul livery was the correct livery for a first release. But surely the British racing green TWR livery, that dominated the ETCC, would have sold way more! This is, after all, the livery that this car is absolutely remembered for. Plus Hornby Scalextric have already done this colour scheme, with a TWR Bathurst 1000km livery as an Australian Limited Edition. Seems that a big opportunity has been missed here for sure.
Both Pendle slot and Weevils slot cars had the Australian Ltd Edition, both now sold out. I just expected Hornby Scalextric to give us the iconic livery, so didn't buy the Aussie version. Plenty still available in Australia, but with VAT, and the Royal Mail £8 surcharge for collecting this, it starts to get expensive.
2. Ford Capri.
Again, no more new liveries? Perhaps the Capri doesn't sell as well as the Escort, which has had so many liveries both road, racing and rally, that it would quite happily make an entire collection on its own! So many more possibilities to cover with this model, both UK and European racing series.
Given the expenses involved in the initial tooling, I'd be very surprised if that was that. Hopefully they will be revisited next year?
Anyone else any thoughts?
