This topic has been hot since traction magnets were first fitted.
My brother and I are at opposites, he likes the higher speeds of magnet-mobiles whereas I see higher speeds and "snap" de-slotting as an easy way to damage cars and scenery.   In reality, as we found out in our youth a few years ago, racing magnet-assisted cars against non-magnet-assisted cars is not really a 'thing' so no discussion to be had there. So we end up with race classes for both types of slot-car. The debate is really which cars are more challenging to drive and that has to be the magnet-assisted cars, due to the sudden loss of traction when the magnet lets go.
