Just about to paint my first 'dark' body, so thought I ought to mask the zones behind where the light lenses go to keep them white.
Am I following convention here, or is there a different way to do this?

Horses for courses. Ask 10 people and you'll likely get 10 different answers.
The way I do it is spray the body, then when the paint is fully dry brush paint the aperture with Humbrol chrome silver enamel. That way, any excess paint you might get on the body can be removed with clean enamel thinner (on a cotton bud) without seriously affecting the painted body.
Just my 2p, but I hope it helps.
Best regards,
Stuart.

Pleased with the results (it's a racer, not for show). Now for some light work.
Relieved no blue paint peeled off with the masking paper!

Not forgetting the orange roof!
With a bit more time on my hands now in retirement, I think I could get to enjoy this painting malarkey!
