Question Gaugemaster GM665 Tool
#1

Hello everybody.  If you have a Gaugemaster gear puller/pusher please let me know if it is of metal construction like the Ninco original.  I see them advertised as "Anodised finish" but to my mind that doesn't mean the unit is actually made of metal.

Many thanks, Leo

hi Leo

from an internet search

''Anodising is an electrochemical process which converts a metal surface into a durable, decorative, and highly corrosion-resistant anodic oxide finish. An electric current passing through the metal part immersed in an electrolyte solution creates the anodic oxide surface.''

Materials that can be anodised include
  • Aluminium and its alloys are the most common materials to be anodised.

  • Steel

  • Hafnium

  • Zinc

  • Titanium

  • Magnesium.

therefore it would be a very safe bet to conclude that it is metal
hope this helps

You can anodise plastic...as long as it's vacuum deposited or flame sprayed with aluminium first

Thanks Kevin and Kevan. The thing is that I already have a Ninco version so a plastic one has no appeal. Was thinking about getting another unit as back-up. Will message Gaugemaster.
