Not a photography site, so why do I post?

What do you mean it's not a photography site?

Jason and the rest of us might tend to disagree.  Sun

I believe it may have something to do with slot cars.

Maybe you just like taking photos. I like hacking wood. Takes all sorts....unless they disagree with me of course.

I had hoped showing some of my photos would open up another way of appreciating these stupid little cars, but alas, it doesn't seem so.  Too bad.

Doug,

I can't see the reason for your negativity. Your pics don't just show a car. They tell a story.

Clearly the Porsche pictured above is owned by a very wealthy, hobbit, germaphobe. The tell is the white rounded walls of the hallways.  Thumbup

What is there to achieve apart from showing your skill and giving us the pleasure of seeing art.

What use does any art have? Some people will like pretty pictures and some will look for the deeper meaning. Nothing negates the good reason for producing either. I like seeing your photos thank you very much. They are and have been from the very start, an essential part of this forums form and appearance.

Please don't stop.

Doug, I can only repeat what I've said before, which is that your photos are the best I've ever seen.

They are certainly the most professional, but it's more than that. It is the creative elements which make your work stand out. The choice of background, colour, lighting, reflections, and angles always combine to make a striking photo. I would recognise your work anywhere.

That is why we've made extensive use of the photos you kindly supplied here on the site; in the headers for the Forum and Portal pages, in the Photography section, in our annual printable calendars, in the Digest, and on our Facebook page and group, all of which have been well received.

Most slot car photography is practical, and informative, yours, as Gordon has said, is art. You pick out forms and colours, and allow us to appreciate them in a new way.

Most creative people strive for more, for better, for new ways of working, and that can sometimes lead to disillusionment, but most of us would be absolutely overjoyed if we could get anywhere close to the quality of your work.

I've quickly picked a small selection here, and perhaps you don't see them as I do. But I think these are clearly absolute jewels of our hobby.
