Hello all,
Did the Scalextric Front-Wheel-Drive Minis come with a lead weight under the bonnet?
I just got two of these and they both have a weight glued to the underside of the bonnet.

Hi Leo,
Mine also has a square weight glued to the underside of the bonnet.
It helps to push the driven front wheels onto the track.
I think it was applied by Scalextric.

Cheers Hub, They must have used good glue to survive all these years.
Have got on of mine running nicely simply by fitting new braids. Other one had burned out motor windings so have installed a spare "Formula Junior" motor and am currently tuning the guide and braids to get some traction.
Have often wondered about these cars and decided it was about time that I got some.
A friend has the rear-wheel-drive Minis with the spotlamp on the roof.
