Shenanigans Raceway Race Results - Johnno
#61

Race Wrap

15th February 2023
Shenanigans Raceway

The usual classes were run this week:
- Ninco 1,
- Ninco Porsche Cup,
- Trans-Am,
- GT International,
- Revoslot,
- Slot.it LMP Modern,
- Slot.it Can-Am,
- Run what Ya Brung (that you haven't run today),

After a little more car scrutineering, another very close and great day of racing was had, even with the very warm weather, luckily we had the A/C and fans going to keep racers and marshals cool. Some extremely close racing across nearly every class this week.

With 4 minute heats getting good feedback from other racers, the 4 minute heat will stay at Shenanigans Raceway for the duration of 2023, see what happens in winter...

Unable to make racing this week was Paul and Nathan. We also had Robyn and Jeff having to leave early so they missed the afternoon races.

Johnno started two laps behind everyone else throughout all the racing classes and eventually made up these laps.

This week see's majority of racers gaining 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29 laps in heats, WOW!!! WOW!!!

Stephen had one of his best racing days in quite some time, until he didn't Rofl , it was great to see things coming together for Stephen, hope it continues for him.

Jeff continued his False Starts, not as many as last week though LOL and is progressing decently with fewer deslots and the learning curve that he is on with everything.

A few more cars left to be srutineered, with some cars being confirmed as Non-Compliant, as can be seen on the track.

The classes run this week included:
- Ninco 1

- Trans-Am,
- GT International,
- Revoslot,
- Slot.it LMP Modern,
- Slot.it Can-Am,
- Run what Ya Brung (that you haven't run today),

Another very close and great day of racing was had, even with the very warm weather, luckily we had the A/C and fans going to keep racers, tempers and marshals all cool. Some extremely close racing across nearly every class this week.

Moby (John) made the trip up with Stephen, was great to catch up with Moby outside of Show Us Ya Slotz for Fortnight Friday Flexi racing.

Unable to make racing this week was Robyn and Nathan. Paul and Johnno both started two laps behind all other racers throughout all the racing classes and eventually made up these laps, though this required loads of concentration.

This week see's majority of racers gaining 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 laps in heats, WOW!!! WOW!!!

New Lap Records:
- Johnno GT International 7.660,
- Johnno Slot.it LMP Modern 7.345, and
- Paul Slot.it Can-Am 7.326

Stephen's racing started great again, then things started going down hill for him with the faster cars, I noticed he was constantly playing with his controller settings.

What a surprise here, Jeff didn't perform any False Starts, and is progressing decently with fewer deslots and the learning curve that he is on with everything.

It was surprising to see no new Lap Records were set even with the track itself being approximately 150mm shorter, though swapping out the single large chicane table for two smaller chicane tables, in essence, creating an 'esses' table, could have slowed racers some while we all learned the track.

Race Wrap
3 May 2023
Shenanigans Raceway

In order of racing, the group classes run this week were:
- Ninco 1,
- Ninco Porsche Cup,
- Trans-Am,
- GT International,
- Revoslot,
- Slot.it LMP Modern,
- Fuel 1:32 cars provided by Paul, Ian, Ray and Johnno,
- Slot.it Can-Am,

From the get go there was an issue, which turned out to be a controller issue, which with this controller it doesn't surprise me at all, it's a relic having seen many, many past and present repairs and modifications by many people LOL.

Kicking off the day we had the Ninco 1's. These cars can be very forgiving, one deslot and your race is on the line so you best not deslot. Ray and Johnno had a very close race, pushing each other harder and harder.

The second race was the Ninco Porsche Cup, this race was split into two races with Johnno and Paul racing each other and Ian and Ray, this was the real race here as the end was very close again. Great racing Ian and Ray.

Next class up was the Trans-Am, Johnno took this one out with his Camaro, a nice car to race, it needs to be controlled, not wrestled or tamed, just kept in line LOL, this race again contained two races, Johnno and Paul & Ian and Ray, who both had another very close race. One lap in it people!!!! My oh my how things are heating up within the group ;)

We move onto GT International class, this class starts the shenanigans and chaos for the day and starts seperating racers out of their groupings into individual racers. We run the GT class with the Ninco 5 motor (NC5) Johnno's NSR is fast (the car likes to be driven hard and responds well to the controller).

The GT class again can be seen to be split in three groups this time with Johnno and Ray both racing their own race while we see Ian and Paul having a very close race, with rounding Ian and Paul tied 2nd... this was great to see Ian pushing hard and up against a real top notch racer Paul he has done very well and needs to take the whole race as a whole as exceptional, well done Ian.

We took a break for lunch, tea, coffee and chit chat then back into racing.

Returning from lunch we hit the track fast with the Revoslot class, we can see everyone out on their racing their own race, these cars require to be raced hard and fast so in turn the deslots are harder but these cars just keep taking the beatings, great product Revo.

The Revo's pile-on to the shenanigans and chaos, especially with Ray and his Viper, the pair are entertaining to say the least LOL.

Next up we hit the black top with the Slot.it Modern LMP's. Johnno;s LMP tossed a braid so he had to grab his backup car, which is just as fast, if not faster.

Again we see this class sending all the racers out on their own race with the times showing considerable gap times, interesting. These Slot.it LMP 'shovel nose' cars come with their own headaches related to the guide system, once you can tame this the cars can be great.

Paul wanted to change up things some and asked for the Fuel race to be brought forward, this race Shenanigans has the racers providing a car of their choosing, the cars stay in the lanes and the racers move through the rostrums, at Shenanigans we usually run the 1:24 BRM Mini Coopers but the 1:32 Fuel makes it a lot more interesting.

With the Fuel races Johnno hides the Heat Screen so the racers can not see what is happening, no one knows what's what until the screens are displayed on race end.

A fast car such as the NSR Mosler isn't necessarily makes you the winner, it will burn through the fuel requiring more fuel stops so costing more time while the slower cars can nearly double the Mosler laps and halve the fuel stops and gain the laps lost because of being a slow car.

Many different fueling and racing strategies could be seen being played out and in the end the results show only one lap in it for 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

Up next are the Slot.it Can-Am's. Pocket Rockets are released and the chaos intensified. This was another race that was seperated with Johnno and Paul racing each other while the other racers all racing their own races.

Robyn appeared after several races in with her brother, Peter, great chap indeed and he raced well on the track, again same thing with Robyn's friend Laren from few weeks back, I loaned Peter the track DS controller, terrible control, swapped the DS out for my backup TruSpeed PWM II controller and what an immediate improvement with control and racing by Peter. I've thought about having decent track controllers, can't justify the money, seeing the improvements instantly with two people that have never been on a slot car track has got me thinking even more on this.

Off Topic
Controllers? For those people that have multiple brands of controllers, for the love of this hobby / sport, your racing and other's racing, pick a controller and stick with it, learn this controller and how it interacts with the cars and stop messing about with the controller settings all the time, set the controller to the defaults as manufacturer recommends and go from there, slowly. If another racer has the same controller, ask them for their controller settings.

Race Wrap
17 May 2023
Shenanigans Raceway

In order of racing, the group classes run this week were:
- Ninco 1,
- Ninco Porsche Cup,
- Trans-Am,
- GT International,
- Slot.it LMP Modern,
- Revoslot,
- Slot.it Can-Am,
- RWYB (Run What Ya Brung (that you haven't run today)),
- Host Fuel 1:24 BRM Mini Cooper's, cars provided by Shenanigans Raceway,

Kicking off the day we had the Ninco 1's. These cars can be very unforgiving, one deslot and your race is on the line so you best not deslot. Ray and Paul had a very close race, pushing each other harder and harder.

The second race was the Ninco Porsche Cup, this race was split into two races with Johnno and Paul racing each other and Ian and Ray, this was the real race here as the end was very close again. Great racing Ian and Ray. Looking at the Heat Results we can see how close the racing was with equal 2nd and 3rd placings decided by best lap times.

Next class up was the Trans-Am, we see Stephen take a podium win here. Looking through the Heat Reults image this again was another close race with one lap seperating 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Ok this week really shows how close the racing is within the group og six, with one lap between every placing and every racer in the 8 second bracket... uncanny

Next up we hit the black top with the Slot.it Modern LMP's. Johnno's LMP tossed a braid so he had to grab his backup car, which is just as fast, if not faster. This class being another close race, though the gaps are starting to increase. These Slot.it LMP 'shovel nose' cars come with their own headaches related to the guide system, once you can tame this the cars can be great.

Revoslot class, we can see everyone out on their racing their own race, these cars require to be raced hard and fast so in turn the deslots are harder but these cars just keep taking the beatings, great product Revo.

The Revo's pile-on to the shenanigans and chaos, especially with Ray and his Viper, the pair are entertaining to say the least LOL.

Paul wanted to change up things some and asked for the Host Fuel race to be brought forward, we ran the 1:24 BRM Mini Coopers provided Shenanigans Raceway.

This was another race that was seperated with Johnno and Ian racing each other while ending with the same laps total so this race was decided upon the best lap time, the other racers all racing their own races.

We move onto the Run What Ya Brung, (that you haven't run today), we see the gaps increasing even more with the faster cars, legit cars? I'd say no...

Race Wrap
31 May 2023
Shenanigans Raceway

In order of racing, the group classes run this week were:
- Ninco 1,
- Ninco Porsche Cup,
- Trans-Am,
- GT International,
- Revoslot,
- Slot.it LMP Modern,
- Slot.it Can-Am,

Jeff was here but decided to marshal, back seat drive and commentate all day. Thanks for marshalling old boy ;)
Started a little late, with five racers and one marshal all day, we started with the Ninco 1's. Two deslots and your race is down. Close racing today by all.

The second race was the Ninco Porsche Cup, a fairly standard race. We Stephen taking the second place podium win, well done mate.

Next up, the Trans-Am's, we see Stephen grab another second place podium win, having a great race with Paul.

Ok this week really shows how close the racing is within the group of four. We see Ray and Johnno battling it out hard, not for placings or wins just decent, hard racing.

The GT International class braings us to the start of the faster cars for racing for the day, along with shenanigans and mischievous behaviours LOL. Leading the way was Paul with Johnno and Ray having several decent laps against each other, pushing the other until one succomes to the pressure and deslots.

We took a break for lunch, tea, coffee and chit chat then back into racing.

Revoslot class, we can see everyone out on their own, racing their own race. The Revo's pile-on to the shenanigans and chaos.

Following on from the Revo's, we hit the hard and fast racing with the Slot.it Modern LMP's. Great racing all round, again with Ray and Johnno having a great scrap against each other.

Up next are the Slot.it Can-Am's. Pocket Rockets are released and the chaos intensified. This was another race that seperated all racers into their own races with multiple laps between each racer.

- Trans-Am,
- GT International,
- Revoslot,
- Slot.it LMP Modern,
- Slot.it Can-Am,
- Run What Ya Brung (that you haven't run today),

Started a little late, with four racers for majority of the day, Johnno took control of track calls while the two outside racers would marshal their end of the track respectively, it works well in conjunction with the track call buttons, a perfect example of the track call button system, after having a nana nap, Robyn arrived and joined in for the afternoon's racing.

Heats were set to four minutes each.

The Ninco classes usually go without incident, though more than two deslots and your race is cooked. Next up are the Trans-Am's, a few cars are fast, too fast...

We move onto GT International class, this class starts the shenanigans and chaos for the day and starts seperating racers out of their groupings into individual racers. We run the GT class with the Ninco 5 motor (NC5) Johnno's NSR is fast (the car likes to be driven hard and responds well to the controller).
